About Me

I'm currently in the midst of a (hopefully) long and fruitful jaunt around this wonderful world of ours! Grew up in Canmore, a little town situated on the eastern slopes of the rocky mountains. I grew up with a strong sense of community and a love for the outdoors. Start with a some amazing scenery and good friends and the rest just falls into place! I'm pretty extroverted, love meeting new people and sharing a good laugh/random stories. I'm a big fan of "spreading the love" and have been known to walk around with free hugs signs at festivals, where I spend most of my time leaving it all on the dancefloor!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While I have yet to either couchsurf or host (everyones gotta start somewhere!) I have heard nothing but good things from my many friends who have used this amazing service all over the world. On top of that, it can sometimes be easy as a traveller to "skim the surface" so to speak, and to be able to meet new people and gain deeper insight into where I am visiting is something that I would not soon forget! I have already been the beneficiary of huge amounts of hospitality on my travels and can hardly wait to be able to return the favor in whatever ways I can.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Don't want to be a cliche but I really listen to all kinds of music. My parents brought me along to a local folk fest for the first 15 years of my life and there was always music playing at home so I have grown to really appreciate the power of music! a random sampling: James Brown, Joni Mitchell, Bulgarian Folk singing, Johnny Clegg Michael Jackson, Fela Kuti, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Panda Bear, Phish, Fleet Foxes, Parliament Funkadelic, Smokey Robinson, ABBA, Paul Simon, Deep Purple, Nina Simone, Ariel Pink, Flying Lotus, Dizzy Gillespie etc!!!

Movies: Any movies that get a conversation started really! not really a big fan of blockbusters..booed at the end of transformers 3

Books: Have not read as many as I would like, recently read Papillion which was a blast. Anything by Tom Robbins, Christopher Hitchens, or Bill Bryson.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Kayaking on the amazing Slave River in NWT, Canada. Waves the size of telephone poles, hordes of horseflies and smiles for miles

Teach, Learn, Share

Always keen to have my ideas challenged and to share experiences!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I find cooking for others or sharing a meal to be one of the best ways to connect with others...who knows what might happen when our flavours combine!

Aspiring masseur, will be training to be an RMT upon my return to Canada but you could say for the moment I'm just an enthusiast :)
