About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore the world and meet all of it's wonderful inhabitants.

ABOUT ME

Although originally from Las Vegas, NV, I am currently (2012) studying abroad in the wonderful country of Germany as a Benjamin A. Gilman scholar. I live in the picturesque town of Lüneburg and am having an absolute blast here.

I am avid book reader, "enjoyer" of intellectual discourse and conversation, and lover of nature and hiking/camping.

I am a Travel Correspondent with Reach The World*, which is a U.S. program aimed to help inspire children to embrace cosmopolitan ideals. I also work with the Albert-Schweitzer-Familienwerk organization where I teach English to German students who come from a troubled background and are having a rough time in life.

PHILOSOPHY

Never judge anyone or anything. Life, people, and general happenings are far too sophisticated, complicated, and complex to be simply understood and one should therefore experience everything as it comes, reflect upon it, learn from it, but never judge it.

Marcus Aurelius is my role model (except the destroying nations part).

"Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones. I am not afraid." - Marcus Aurelius

"Human life. Duration: momentary. Nature: changeable. Perception: dim. Condition of Body: decaying. Soul: spinning around. Fortune: unpredictable. Lasting Fame: uncertain. Sum Up: The body and its parts are a river, the soul a dream and mist, life is warfare and a journey far from home, lasting reputation is oblivion." - Marcus Aurelius

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am currently looking to meet with people to enjoy conversations and meals, and will be in need of places to stay as I travel every weekend.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have yet to host someone, although I will upon my return to the U.S. I have, however, attended Couchsurfing meetings and met people through the website.

Interests

I spend my time talking with friends, making new friends, reading, not watching television, hiking, walking, enjoying coffees and teas in different cafés, studying, and genuinely living, enjoying, and giving thanks for every day.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite movie is "A Knight's Tale" and I have numerous favorites books, with my most beloved being "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society." I enjoy all types of literature, from Goethe and Tolstoy to Gary Shteyngart and Jane Austen (what?!).

I primarily listen to classical piano music (Yann Tiersen is my favorite composer), and various other genres when the mood arises (dubstep to hip hop).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm living in Germany for an entire year. I've left my fiancée, my family and everything that I've previously known behind, in order to grow, experience and ultimately become a better person.

Countries I’ve Visited

France, Germany, Luxembourg, United States
