About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Construct a general theory of cinematic time

ABOUT ME

I really don't like writing about myself. I work, I have an excess of hobbies, I read a lot, watch a lot of movies. I like art museums and old things. I used to have a radio show playing old American folk, blues, and country music, but I like classical and noise music as well. I like it when crazy things happen, which is why I'm in Beijing.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm rather interested in the structure of time

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to host people on the down and out, and hope that the favor will be returned.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Twice in Vienna when I lived in Prague and had to cross the border for Visa purposes. That went quite well. I used Friendster and Myspace rather often when I traveled around America, that was before I knew couchsurfing existed. I've hosted several people in Beijing, and they were all quite pleasant. I had very bad experiences in Paris until I met up with someone I formerly hosted... What goes around comes around!

Interests

Everything. I like light a lot, people watching, good chinese food. I was generally just followed the art world until recently, when, due to my job, I had to become conversant in economics. Now I get really excited by actions of the central bank... a lonely hobby.

Music, Movies, and Books

On film, people should see my old website 'www.likeanoldfilm.com'.
I like old books, Epic of Gilgamesh and the like, my favorite book though is "Dream of the Red Chamber, written in the 18th century, and considered the best novel ever written in the Chinese language.
I like old music as well, primarily from the 20s and 30s, I am also really into high quality instrumental pieces (Bartok, Rachmaninov, Einsturzende Neubauten)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I tried to find 912 Toulouse Street in New Orleans. I am still not sure whether it exists. (ask me about it if you want to know more!)

Teach, Learn, Share

I write very good letters. My new website: www.imaginarybirds.com

Countries I’ve Visited

France, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
