About Me

I'd describe myself as an easy-going and open guy who is eager to learn more about others and the world around him. I like to write a lot and so I blog, write articles, short stories, poems and books. People are my biggest source of inspiration :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Until now I have only had the pleasure of receiving people on my couch when I was still living in a student dorm. It was a lot of fun to get to meet people from all over the world, because it gives you a sense of travelling without ever having to leave the house. However, nothing really beats actually going outdoors and seeing and experiencing new things, so that's why I decided to go to South-Africa for a month. The country has always allured to me and since my sister is now working there, the perfect opportunity has arisen. I'd be stupid not to seize it!

Interests

I like stories. Over the years I realize these come in many, many forms. People can tell stories about their past, about what they experienced, what they felt or feel and so you as a reader or listener can relate to them. Our ability to empathize with each other ensures that there will always be stories to be told and eager ears to listen. I am not only interested in telling stories and like to listen to what others have to tell.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a big fan of Philip K. Dick, an American science-fiction author who has unfortunately passed away. He wrote a lot about the human condition, human identity and his work centers around the question: 'what does it mean to be human?' This is not an easy question to answer and therefore his books are usually not always really easy to understand. Even though there is often an easy-to-follow sequence of actions put forward in his stories, under the surface many things happen that deserve a lot of deep thought.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At a party recently I threw a small nut towards the open mouth of a friend who was standing across the room. From the first try I threw in the nut. It was nuts.

Teach, Learn, Share

As I mentioned above, I want to learn more about people's stories. This includes their culture, their beliefs, their fears, their hopes and so on. I want to expand my knowledge and my mind by meeting others. I hope other people feel the same way and want to absorb whatever I can tell them about my culture, beliefs etc. :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

A great, inexhaustable, but very dry sense of humour :)
