Overview
About Me
Hey! I’m Brandon, a medical student from Nevada traveling around the western states for clinical rotations. I’m a laid-back, respectful guest who’s usually either working, studying, playing outside on trails and rock, or scouting out the best local coffee. I’ve got a background in search and rescue and a passion for global and community health. Always happy to cook a shared meal, clean up, and swap outdoor stories!
Below is a time capsule after reactivating my account in 2025 from 2012 and I am preserving it on principle as an anthropology major and as a reminder of my past hope and naiveté. Oh how things change with time :) please feel free to poke a little fun at the me of 13 years ago if you read this, I certainly did lol

CURRENT MISSION
Travel the world
ABOUT ME
Male, 20, I love learning and history. I have a romantic's view of adventure and all things in this world. I am currently in the delayed entry program to be be a corpsman (combat medic) in the United States Navy. I look forward to serving my country and fellow man.
PHILOSOPHY
"My father was a great man, as any lucky man's father must be. He taught me rules I do not think are abrogated by our nervous and hysterical times. These laws have not been annulled; these rules of attitudes. He taught me--glory to God, honor to my family, loyalty to my friends, respect for the law, love of country and instant and open revolt against tyranny, whether it come from the bully in the schoolyard, the foreign dictator, or the local demagogue.
And if this be treason, gentlemen, make the most of it."
Steinbeck pretty much sums it all up except I would add service to man.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’m couch surfing while I travel for clinical rotations during medical school. In my earlier life, I traveled through India, Europe, and Australia using Couchsurfing, and those experiences stuck with me not just for the places I stayed, but for the people I met and the stories we shared. In undergrad I studied anthropology and am drawn to learning how people live and connect to their environment and wider community. Staying in someone’s home offers a window into the rythmn of a place in a way no hotel ever could.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Not really sure what to put here, I talk and hangout with the people around me. Im okay with doing what everyone else wants to do especially if it involves food or adventure. I can't host at the moment as I am traveling and will be in the military but I hope to repay the CS community after my enlistment is up!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I had no formal couch surfing experience up until the end of january 2013 when a parisian finally decided to let a newbie have a chance at it. great experience and helped me on my way to become a pro.
Interests
I dabble in all things outdoors and love to share food and coffee!

Music, Movies, and Books
I would love to talk about Sci-Fi (reading Children of Time currently), medicine, outdoor adventures and hear about what music is currently interesting you. I listen to a lot of folksy stuff right now but in general listen to everything and am always looking for a musical palate refresh!

Too young to have accomplished much. I have lived in Bangalore India for 2 months doing service but I hope to do a whole lot more in the service of my country and by extension the world. I have also traveled all across my home land and fell in love with the country I was so lucky to be born in. I am currently traveling around Europe, India and Australia for about 3 months!
Teach, Learn, Share
Anthropology, culture, medicine, health, outdoor adventure and more! I have a healthy amount of lived life experience for my age and love to share :)
