Have an unforgettable summer before adult life begins and I sell my soul to the capitalistic world of management consulting.
I'm Mat. Despite my lack of soccer and samba skills, I am a proud Brazilian. My friends tell me that my sense of humor is a bit acidic, ''bitter as lemmon''. But they soon realize that almost every time I add some sugar and make it a lemonade (or depending on the mood I add cachaca and make it a caipirinha - you should seriously google "cachaça" and "caipirinha").
Music runs in the blood.
After a few minutes talking, I could honestly trust you my life. I'm quite skeptical, though.
I've lived in a couple of places around the world, and I am quite interested in foreign languages. Friends say that I am kind and sensitive to other people's feelings and also that I am pretty straigh-forward. Sometimes, too straight-forward. Euphemism is not my forte.
When possible, I go out of my way to help someone. A smoother life is a happier life. I'm flexible, and I'll try my very best to make your or my stay the most amusing and unique experience for both of us.
I have volunteered teaching 7 and 8 year old kids in China. My best friend is 65 years old and is from Switzerland. People can get along. I do not believe in age or "cultural" gaps. Everyone has something to teach, and people can get along well regardless of their date of birth.
I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move. Travelling is quite an essential part who I am.
I will most certainly miss you when either one of us leave.
Balance. Life is about trade-offs.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Surfing, hosting and travelling with CSers. Some of the most fun (and genuine) people I have met.
I've couchsurfed thoughout China, from North to South. Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Suzhou, Shenzhen, Guilin, Guangzhou,... Macau, Hong Kong. I have also couchsurfed in several countries in Europe, the Americas and UK.
Not a single bad experience. It never ceases to impress me the people I meet.
I love getting to know the people, culture, and language of the places I go. I could honestly spend hours talking about it, trying to understand their habits and why they are the way they are. The physical place becomes somewhat unimportant once I understand the people. That's when I feel that I've truly been somewhere.
I am a music freak, I love photography and I cooking.
If you wanna have a conversation about languages, grammar, literature, verbal tenses and all that good stuff, I am your guy. I keep convincing my Portuguese friends that we, Brazilians, speak better Portuguese.

"I love that song". Friends of mine joke that this is my my favorite, and quite overly used, quote. Sharing music is always a pleasure.
