About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to enjoy simply and experience deeply

ABOUT ME

Let's see, I am currently in my final year in college, finishing up a joint major in religious and film studies. While the two are not intimately connected in my mind, I am equally drawn to and inspired by the influence, versatility, and passion within both fields. I hope to create works, literary and visual, that mirror the same expanding universe and depth of experience that I've witnessed.
I am pretty much an open book and enjoy provocative conversations with spirited and well-intentioned people.
Compassion, in its myriad of forms is priceless, and debate is fuel for betterment.
Traveling is my soul. Imagination my spine. I am a wanderer of worlds.

PHILOSOPHY

"Ain't nothin' to it but to do it."-Maya Angelou

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

By opening up my home and heart to the wonderful and talented people who come into my life because of couchsurfing, whether it is from an event or gutsy message asking me to hang out or staying at my place. Truly grateful for all the amazing, strong, and intelligent people I've met through this.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've CS once myself in Florence and since moving back to Atlanta have hosted a couple of times. I had to take a hiatus for awhile but I am in the process of moving again, where luckily I will be able to host once more.

Interests

I'm interested in people. What makes us tick or laugh or cry? The things we bend for and the things we fight for. The lengths we would go to for a stranger, a friend, a lover. How do you treat an animal? How do you treat a kid? How do you treat the helpless, the strong, the smart, the one's you wish would kindly stop talking? Would you smile in the face of adversity? Would you smile for no damn reason other than the fact that you can? I'm interested in learning--from myself, from others, from the good and bad. I'm interested in laughing my way through life, dancing and singing and eating and drinking and helping those I can and basking in every experience and scraping my knees and being wrong and being right and accepting change and holding onto those dearest to me.

Music, Movies & Books

Movies: Star Wars(Not all of them sadly) Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I think Hayao Miyazaki makes beautiful films. Pride and Prejudice. Singing in the Rain. Big fish. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Life is Beautiful. Pay it Forward. Memoirs of a Geisha. Rabbit Proof Fence.

I grew up on a steady diet of Oldies but Goodies, so I always enjoy the soulful tunes of some of the greats like Sam Cooke, Bob Dylan, Tracy Chapman, Bobby Lewis, Billy Joel, James Brown, Otis Redding, The Righteous Brothers, Joni Mitchel, etc...

Reggae is good year round.

Murder by Death have some truly great lyrics.

And when words aren't enough, classical/instrmental music. A lot of beauty and complexity in the ineffable.

--simple and beautiful

As for books I prefer trashy novels devoid of any actual substance or depth where everyone lives happily ever after in a completely unrealistic characterization of life and ultimately my mind doesn't hurt after reading...
But seriously on the off chance I actually have time to read something pleasurable I lean towards sci-fi and fantasy, though the occasional murder mystery, random memoir, spiritual text, or obscure romance novel does occupy sporadic occasions.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Simple kindness--I've seen it go a long way.
