Hello! I am an American who has lived in Seattle, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, and the Bay Area. I have been working as an engineer for a few years but am taking time off to travel. While I enjoy small talk, I usually prefer to jump into long conversations about education, economics, politics, how the world works, technology, etc. I love hearing peoples' perspectives! I like talking sports too, particularly NBA basketball. In my free time, I read, draw (I'm trying to learn cartooning), rock climb, hike, run, and play piano. In the past, I have been on soccer, basketball, and ultimate frisbee teams. I've been part of a choir, glee club, and acapella group. I can still beatbox a little :p.

I have always been interested in how things work, which is why I was drawn to physics and engineering in school. Now I have become fascinated with how the human mind works and how societies/governments function. It's much harder to understand! I miss the equations of physics!

Recently I have been volunteering to tutor middle school kids in algebra and geometry. I find it to be super fun! I'm not exactly sure what my next job will be, but I'm pretty sure it will involve teaching in some way.

I am looking to meet new people and to find places to stay while traveling! I am always interested in learning about new places and cultures, and typically listen more than I talk. For what it's worth, I can certainly pitch in some amount for "rent", or at least help buy groceries while I'm at your place!

Credit my friend Matt for telling me about Couchsurfing. I am very excited to take advantage in the coming months as a travel. I don't have my own place back home yet, but once I do I can't wait to open up my own couch to visitors!

My favorite fiction book series are LOTR and Harry Potter. I also read lots of science fiction books. Dune might be my favorite. I enjoy non-fiction books about anything from economics to psychology to history.

I am typically listening to whatever songs are popular at the time, but often fall back on 90's hip-hop and old John Mayer albums. My favorite pop artist right now is Rihanna.

I don't watch many movies, but I love anything Star Wars, and have a soft spot for romantic comedies. I like old cult comedies like Wayne's World, the Princess Bride, and Space Balls.

My dad taught me two important lessons for life. The first is to always leave something you borrow cleaner than when you got it. I have taken this to heart and almost never fail to clean up after myself. I am always a respectful and gracious guest, I (almost) never drink to excess, and I'll walk your dog for you if you need! I would love to get to know you, but will also respect your space. I look forward to meeting you!
