About Me

Hello! My name is Brescia and I am originally from Ames, Iowa, USA. My parents named me after a town in Italy that my father lived in for a year and a half. I first discovered my true love of traveling in 2014 when I visited my brother who was teaching English in South Korea. The trip was incredible, and I applied to work as an au pair in Milan, Italy a few months after my trip. I was in Italy for 4-5 months, and I even got to visit the town I was named after!

I love trying new things and meeting new people. I am not always the most outgoing person, but I will try (almost) anything once! *I draw the line at skydiving*

I have yet to use Couchsurfing so I don't have any references at the moment. I have stayed at AirBnb's in the past and I love the experience they provide! You might be able to look up my profile on AirBnb to view a review from a few past trips I have taken for reference.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I travel, I want to truly experience the new location I am in. I love to meet people and experience things that are outside of the usual tourist traps. I love finding those hidden gems, and what better way to find them than by staying with a local! Staying with people in their home makes the trip more personal and you have someone you can trust for advice and tips. Hotels seem very impersonal after staying in actual homes!

Interests

I will truly try almost anything once. When it comes to food, I don't think there has been anything I have turned away from. I do draw the line at some outrageously adventurous stuff (skydiving, bungee jumping), but I am game for basically anything else!

I love trying new things and then sharing those things with the people I care about. I love taking pictures of my adventures on my phone so I can remember exactly how everything took place. Because I love sharing things with the people I care about, it means a lot to me that someone would bring me into their home and share their life and experiences with me.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to many different kinds of music. Some of my favorite groups are Cake, Jack White, and The 1975. As for movies, I love a good drama. I enjoy all other genres as well, but a really good drama is my favorite. When it comes to books, writing this reminds me that I really need to spend more time reading. English has always been my favorite subject, and I used to read CONSTANTLY, but now that I am so busy with school and work I haven't been reading nearly as much. One of my favorite books from high school was Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut, and a favorite I read more recently is The Street by Ann Petry.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I can't think of anything extraordinary or amazing that I have done, but that just means that it has yet to happen!

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to be taught a bit about the life of the locals in the city I will be in. If I have one regret from when I was in Italy for several months, it is that I never learned to cook amazing food! I would love to share experiences and stories with my host.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share funny stories from my few travels so far as well as friendly conversation. I am a very kind person who truly loves to share and laugh with people. I am also very capable of laughing at myself and my past travelling mishaps!
