About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to try to find the best pad thai anywhere in the world

ABOUT ME

I live in Boulder, Colorado. Which might just be the greatest place on earth, especially in the summer. I am a hobby-ridden person. I love outdoor activities; hiking, climbing, kayaking, scuba, biking, whatever appeals to me. I do art; I make things, I take pictures, I practice poetic terrorism. I am trying to get a graphic design firm off of the ground. I work in a restaurant that serves great but expensive food. I like books, movies, long walks on the beach in the moonlight, and cuddling.

PHILOSOPHY

So...carpe diem is a great philosophy. So many great things in my life have come from a "oh, fuck it" attitude, just running and jumping in, consequences be damned. Its too easy to tiptoe through life, experiencing nothing, hoping that you will make the right decision but in the end realizing that you haven't made any decisions at all. I try to think about everything I do, and why I do it, and what it means, but it gets to be a little overwhelming sometimes. However, its good to have a sense of your footprint on the planet, and on people, and what you can do to affect the outcome of your life on the rest of the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host. I surf. I tell people about hosting and surfing. I have talked to many newspapers and radio programs about hosting and surfing. And I try to contribute any way I know how.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couchsurfed in a number of countries, and like to take new people with me to experience how fabulous it is. I have also had many people surf with me. So far, its been great! I've even got repeat customers. It's like a person filter - you get some of the coolest people in the world, and have a chance to genuinely interact with them.

Interests

I love traveling (obviously, how cliche). I like food, friends, people really, beautiful scenery, good smells, small furry mammals, you get the idea...

Actually, I love a lot of things. I like outdoors activities - hiking, biking, ice and rock climbing, kayaking, surfing, etc. I'm big into SCUBA, and am working my way towards being a dive master. I'm trying to learn a lot of languages, my goal is to ultimately have a working knowledge of 8 (or more). I love art, design, those sorts of things. I'm basically really interested in anything interesting.

Music, Movies, and Books

all of the above. For authors, I like milan kundera, david eggers, david sedaris, jose saramango, travel guides (lonely planet) etc. I am in love with Jose Saramango. If you haven't read anything by him, I would seriously consider it. His books will change the way that you see the world around you.

I love good music. Jazz, blues, indie, rock, whatever. As long as it speaks to me, that's all I need.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ask me about the diamond heist... I once got so excited to see the ocean after a long stretch that I ran into the water in March (in Spain) fully clothed. It was fabulous. Or you could ask me about the treasure hunting and the Sasquatch. That's a good story too.

Teach, Learn, Share

Live your life with no regrets. The things that you have done in your past have made you what you are today, and to regret past occurrences is regretting who you are, and that is never a good thing. It is ok to accept that you would do things differently if you knew then what you know now, but if you went back to that exact moment in time, odds are, you would do the same thing. Just apply this knowledge to future, and never have another regret ever again.

Countries I’ve Visited

Aruba, Australia, Bahamas, Canada, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Monaco, Morocco, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Spain, United Kingdom, Vatican City State, Virgin Islands, British, Virgin Islands, U.S.
