About Me

I am a 19 year old college student who goes to Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA. I study environmental science there and work at an Oyster Farm on a boat and in the water in Morro Bay, CA. My passion in life is nature; both studying it and enjoying it. For years I have loved to hike, backpack, and run. Since moving to San Luis Obispo, surfing has become one of my biggest passions. My first time on the summit of Half Dome was a really powerful moment in my life where I decided to be an environmental scientist. I love folk music. I love to cook. I love my family and friends. My dream destination is to the North Shore of Oahu.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was introduced to couchsurfing last year. I have housed quite a few couch surfers since, then but it has been through my roommate Caleb Ostgaard. I have recently updated my profile and I will be working on advancing my couchsurfing network as I prepare for more traveling and hosting in the near future.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Some of my favorite places to backpack include: Yosemite, Kings Canyon, Big Sur, and The Santa Cruz Mountains. My most favorite hike was in Kings Canyon National Park on a trail called the Rae Lakes Loop. It was a 50 mile trip and it was absolutely gorgeous. We trekked through many different ecosystems as we gained and lost elevation. Having a constant 360 view of the Sierra Nevada granite blanketed with the Sequoia and pine forest was breathtaking. It was a great bonding time the my friends. I felt so at peace with the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

This past October I was hit by a car bicycling to class in the morning. I spent 4 days in the hospital and broke many bones and ligaments. I could've died. I had to withdraw from college and move back home. It was a really humbling experience. I became much more aware of how fragile my body is. It made me more thankful for what I have and to the the greater forces at play in my life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share: laughs, conversation, drinks, food. I have many suggestions of what to do in the state of California. With a busy lifestyle of balancing studies and work I can't always entertain guests, but my goals is to: offer an open house with sleeping and bathing amenities and easygoing roommates.
