About Me

People have described me as "very chill", but I still know how to have fun! Living in NYC lets me explore a lot of cool art, film, and other events, so I have some fun stories. If you hang around me for more than a couple of minutes, I am going to start dropping fun facts. I am rather extroverted and open-minded, and I really enjoy meeting new people and finding new things to do. I used to do nanomaterials/quantum computing research, and now I ineffectively research wireless power transfer. I can chat about science, but I like to spend my free time learning from people who have lived very different lives from me :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Mostly, I want to meet cool people when I travel. I find that I am drawn to the travel experiences that are less tailored, less planned, and less polished. I also want to make friends so I get cool visitors in New York :)

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music fluctuates, but here are some artists that I will never grow tired of: Joao Gilberto, Madlib, Tribe Called Quest, Sam Gendel, Chassol, Alex Cameron, Mulatu Astatke, La Femme, Four Tet

Gotta admit that I am not a cinephile, but here is a good list: Tokyo Drifter, anything with Robert Pattinson acting crazy, Boyhood, Pan's Labyrinth, Night of the Living Dead, La Planete Sauvage, Space Jam, Land Before Time 11

Now Books!: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Catch-22, Exhalation (Ted Chiang), Don't Sleep There Are Snakes, and anything by David Sedaris, Kurt Vonnegut, or Terry Pratchett

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am very good at math and science, so I can definitely teach you some physics or math if you need help with that. Admittedly, my entertaining skills are a bit rusty, but I can juggle 3 balls and I like to think I have a good sense of humor!

I also live in NYC and if we hit it off I can definitely return the favor if you ever visit the Big Apple!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, England, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Malaysia, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain
