I like meeting local people, plain and simple. You don't get the same feel for a new place or gain unique experiences while traveling if you're sitting in the same hostels.

I lived in Berlin in 2011 and it was one of the best experiences to meet, hang out and party with international friends. I've since lived in Istanbul (2015) and Melbourne, Australia (2016). Last destination was Iceland, and yes - I saw the northern lights!

I'm an open-minded and friendly guy, and I think you could make cool and invaluable connections on Couchsurfing that way.
