About Me

CURRENT MISSION

haircut

ABOUT ME

At the moment I'm in between graduating and the malaise that follows (going to Paris, attempting to write book, slouching on the Left Bank, sadly sans beret), and hopefully starting a Masters degree in September. So I'm quite happy at the moment. I can't claim to be the most extroverted person, but I enjoy travelling and haven't done any in a while, so going to Turkey is getting me quite excited.

On Turkish note, I'm desperately trying to learn Turkish in two weeks. At the moment I can manage self-evident phrases such as "uçak uçuyor".

PHILOSOPHY

Being tolerant above all. Unless I meet Sarah Palin, in which case I am duty-bound to forget personal philosophies.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm moving to London in September, so all things going well I will have a couch there. At the moment it's a bit awkward. If you're dying of anything in Bristol it probably can't be cured by a couch. But contact me if your demise is imminent.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None so far, unfortunately, at least in an official capacity. I've had lots of people visiting me, and in Paris I lived in between a number of people's couches/floors/stairwells. Apparently I'm perfectly sane, respectful, and provide whisky (which fluctuates less than currency).

Interests

Cooking! (I should have said this above. Will cook for hosts/visitors with pleasure). Writing, convincing my girlfriend that jazz is cool, reading, travelling.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Animal Collective, Radiohead, electronic music of the Aphex Twin sort of ilk, Kraftwerk, cool forms of jazz, but not cool jazz. No 'funk'.

Books: at the moment I'm reading Snow by Orhan Pamuk. I met some Turkish people in the station a few days ago, who were very happy about this, and recommended I read all his other books too.

Movies: Almodovar, that ol' French new wave (batter me to death now), Coen Brothers, Wes Anderson (who I think is possibly not quite a genius).

Teach, Learn, Share

Can teach: any of the languages I speak. How to make risotto and steak & kidney pie.

Learn: new food. Culture, music, language (especially language. And food).

Share: airspace.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Kenya, Poland, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
