Hello! I was a Peace Corps Volunteer working and serving in a rural community in the Dominican Republic for 2 years teaching music and other subjects. It’s on my bucket list to go to the highest point in all 50 states, and I’ve decided to extend this to countries and territories as well. So far I’ve completed 38 states, DC, and 1 country. At every highpoint, I bring my melodica and play the state/national anthem of the area at the top to honor that place.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m on CouchSurfing in order to experience the places I go in a richer way. Serving in the Peace Corps has shown me how much there is to know about a culture beyond resorts or big cities. Being able to travel and intimately know a culture while honoring that culture musically at the highpoint is very meaningful to me.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love engaging with the music of the countries I visit, and I love being curious about all types of music. But as for what I loved the most growing up, anything before the 90s…Billy Joel, Elton John, ABBA, Queen, ELO, Jim Croce, Paul Simon, the list goes on. I was also a Jazz Studies major in college. Books I love: The Alchemist, Greenlights, and the Dhammapada, among others. Lots of Philosophy/Psychology/Religion. Recently, I’ve also been a big fan of R. F. Kuang and Brandon Sanderson.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Summer of ‘22 I took a solo road trip throughout the United States hitting 17 state highpoints.

I can share musical knowledge (my main instrument is piano) and I also speak Spanish.
