About Me

My name is Brie and I am currently backpacking through Europe this summer. I have had a Couch Surfing account for a while (because this is something I have always wanted to use!) and now finally I hope to meet and connect with new people from this site. From staying in hostels you generally meet other travelers, which is nice of course, but meeting with locals is so rewarding and I always end up learning so much about the culture and people, I really enjoy it!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting people and having them show me around their city!! Such an enriching experience :) once I am back home in LA (will probably be moving to San Francisco) my couch is of course available.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like many different kinds of music, but right now I'm really into the music coming out of LA where I'm from. I go to a lot of local shows so anyone who is keen to music within the realm of garage punk/lo-fi/surf/etc. I am into music of different varieties though, I love anything oldies and some noise stuff or low tempo pop. As far as movies go, I mostly like stupid humor but I also love a lot of indie films (Unmade Beds, Eagle vs. Shark, Like Crazy) and others such as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, American Beauty, High Fidelity, Ghost World, etc. I like a lot of films in foreign languages too. I try to read as often as I can, and some of my favorite books are The Bell Jar, Children of the Albatross, Breakfast of Champions, and The Picture of Dorian Gray. Pretty much anything by Anais Nin is gold, and I also really love Vonnegut. I do enjoy various books and essays by feminist writers (bell hooks, Audre Lorde) and pretty much anything by Henry Rollins.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Happy to assist with anything I can to help accommodate my stay - dishes, cleaning, etc. cultural exchange is always fascinating as well - I was born and raised in Los Angeles and I'm fairly involved with the music scene here. Whatever I can do to help!
