About Me

My wife (Laura aka Lobo) and I are two laid back, friendly Texans. I have done a bit of traveling over the years, and Lobo is a little newer to international travel. We both love the time we've spent abroad, and we've committed to traveling together for the coming months. We've both left our jobs, moved our stuff to storage, and are committing to visiting lots of new places together.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For our travels we want to not only see many new places, but meet locals. In my experiences you learn so much more about a city by talking to people who actually live and are from there. We are friendly, gracious guests and are appreciative of those who are willing to put up strangers in their home!

My favorite books include The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle (Haruki Murakami), Lolita (Vladimir Nabokov), Middlesex (Jeffrey Eugenides), White Noise (Don DeLillo), The Great Gatsby (F. Scott Fitzgerald).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I survived cancer! I was diagnosed with stage IV Hodgkin's lymphoma at age 26. After five months of high-dose chemotherapy and 24 days of targeted radiation I was declared in remission. I'm now more than 10 years past my diagnosis.

Teach, Learn, Share

I taught English as a second language in Prague for just over a year, so am good with the language. We'd both like to pick up as much vocabulary as possible while we're abroad.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My wife and I (the wife especially) are capable cooks, and enjoy cooking. She is a great listener, and I'm a good storyteller. We both love beer and wine (beer especially) and will always be happy to buy a round. We are tidy and neat, and both of us don't mind dishes/housecleaning.
