About Me

I'm a Chicago native living and teaching English as a foreign language in Prague. I also work in tv and film production (so far I've worked on one film and three TV shows). I had wanted to live in Europe since I was 14 and when the opportunity to make a change appeared I went for it. Even though sometimes I feel like my life abroad is held together with duct tape, I still think moving is one of the best decisions I've ever made. :) Over four and a half years here and I still discover something new everyday.

I'm friendly, outgoing, and I think that the combination of wine and cheese is one of the best things ever invented. I'm a vegetarian but I don't care if people eat meat around me. I believe that experiences are so much more important than things, and I've learned that people will be really good to you if you just give them the chance to be.

I have been so fortunate in the last couple of years to make friends from different places & backgrounds and I've gained new perspectives from each one. I think that we all have so much to learn from each other and I'm looking forward to meeting new friends!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I first traveled abroad in 2009 and I went to London, Paris, Annecy, Nice, and Barcelona. I stayed in hostels the entire time and I was traveling on my own. Even though I had a great time, I didn't feel very connected to the cities and my memories of that trip pale in comparison to the memories I have of staying with CS hosts-wandering, chatting, drinking, etc.

My first experience with couchsurfing was going to an event in Dresden. My friend & I weren't able to find a host in the city but she told me about a CS party that was being thrown there. I wasn't sure what to expect from it, but I ended up having the best time and meeting some pretty great people!

Since then, I have been hosted in Paris, Normandy, Brussels, Vienna, Budapest, Munich, Cologne, Amsterdam, and London. I'm so incredibly grateful to have the experiences I've had and it's all due to the generosity of my hosts.

Interests

Running (I've completed half marathons in 13 different European countries), concert going, gardening, exploring, guitar playing, Spotify playlist making, baking, cooking, talking, coding. Hash House Harriers. Moving walkways at airports. Planning trips and the anticipation of them. Moving water (streams, oceans, waterfalls, cool water installations, etc).

Music, Movies, and Books

90s Britpop will always be closest to my heart, with bands like Pulp, Oasis, and Blur. I use Spotify & am always on the lookout for new bands, I also love using it to rediscover music I've forgotten about!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being in Normandy two days after the 70th anniversary of D-Day. I've never had an experience so humbling or memorable.

Snorkeling in the stunning Belize Barrier Reef-seeing eagle rays, gorgeous fish, conch shells, turtles, small sharks. What a privilege.
