Über mich

Like most people on I've met on couch surfing, I've been struck with wander lust, and I'm glad there is no cure. I love new people in general, but especially in cross cultural settings where both parties can learn from each other.

I got started on couch surfing when I was living in China as an English teacher for about 5 years. I had some Italian friends who hosted Israeli travelers and I loved the idea instantly. Both couples were so much fun to hang out with!

I am currently managing hotels in the states for a few more months while I finish up my teacher's certification which will allow me to get back overseas, but this time into international schools. I want to see and live in as many places as humanly possible, and for me I think language education and learning is my ticket to do that!

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

In case everything above wasn't clear enough, I'm looking to host and be hosted as I travel to as many far off lands as humanly possible, learning the languages and cultures, and sampling the distinct foods in each place.

Interessen

There aren't many things I'm not interested in, mostly because as I find things that I know nothing about, it usually becomes an obsession until I'm at least semi-decently versed at whatever that thing is.

Most recently I spend a lot of time snowboarding (which was my obsession this winter since starting to learn in December), playing disc golf, exploring Lake Tahoe, chilling with an interesting book with a view from my hammock, and brushing up on American Sign Language by hanging out with deaf friends (I'm hard of hearing myself).

As the weather turns warmer, rock climbing, mountain biking, and long distance running will all likely be incorporated into the busy work schedule as well.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I like all kinds of music, especially if it's exotic and sung in another language. Chinese karaoke bars played a major part in my success with mandarin haha.

As far as American music, I like Jason Mraz, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, things that can easily be played on a ukelele, which besides getting better at guitar is next on my list of things to learn to do.

Not a big movie guy, not because I don't enjoy them but because I don't remember what happens in them after a weeks time. It could be my nasty habit of falling asleep instantly when I finally sit down to chill on a comfy couch....but hey I'll take my active lifestyle any day.

As far as books, I'll read anything nonfiction, but unless it's based on a true story and there's historic knowledge to be gleaned, you'll be hard pressed to get me to read fiction.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Since it says "one", that's what I'll list for now, but you can ask for more as we get to know each other!

Last year I did a five day trek on the Salkantay trail up to Machu Pichu in Peru. My favorite part besides the stunning views and the history lessons of course, were the people in our group from all over the world.
