About Me

Hello there!!! What's going on with you?!? I'm on a mission to see the world.

I was a swimmer, then triathlete, then professional cyclist. Afterward, I became a businessman in the electronic security industry. 3 years ago, I retired, and am traveling the world as fast and furious as I can:-)

I just returned from South Africa. In the last 2 years, it was my 6th continent and 32nd country to explore.

My favorite thing is to meet locals (or have visitors to my home) and learn about the inside scoop of new places.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to return the favor of those many kind people who hosted me in my swimming and cycling days. Even though I can't host them, I want to "pay it forward" by giving kindness and generosity to those who need it.

So far, I haven't couch surfed in anyone's home. The closest I've gotten is a few nights in a backpackers hostel. But I'm warming up:-)

Interests

I love adventure and adrenaline. I love the excitement of the unknown. And the heart pounding of a bit of danger. I love to do fun, physical things that are a distraction from the fact that I'm exercising.

I'm a foodie. I love the outdoors and all things nature, including animals (looking at them, not eating them:-)

I love learning new cultures, customs, foods, and a little of their languages.

Music, Movies, and Books

In my youth, it was all rock n roll. Now, I love a mix, but still love garage bands, rock, and a little punk.

Nowadays, I love more easy listening too, including jazz, and serene music.

I am a classic,y trained pianist.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've ridden a bicycle down a mountain at over 100kph

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm not sure what this means, but...

I am well trained by my prim and proper mom to be a gracious and helpful and considerate guest. I know how to stay out of the way, out of sight, and leave a place better than I found it.
