About Me

I just finished my degree from University of California San Diego in Microbiology and Health Care Social Issues. Currently, most of my time is spent working on my 9 week backpacking trip to Europe with my girlfriend Kennedy. But I'm also set to start Medical School in Australia in January!

I love the outdoors (I've hiked Half-Dome in Yosemite twice, have camped in the snow a few times (every time on accident, but never regretted)), I enjoy cooking (especially some great paninis, and the few German dishes my Mother has taught me), and meeting new people and seeing new things.

Ask me about being an immigrant and coming to terms with where home is. Or ask me about being in a fraternity and what it's actually like. More importantly, ask me about being the Risk Manager for a year and the various crises I had to handle during that.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because simply put... People need people. I know I have plans to explore in the future and know I would love the support and experience of getting an insider's look into a city. And equally so, I want to help provide the same experience and get to know the kinds of people that are willing to put themselves out there and have a similar desire to explore.

Interests

I've kind of hit it all up in the other sections but:
-The outdoors (hiking, skiing, stargazing)
-Cooking
-Talking

  • cooking
  • outdoor activities
  • hiking
  • skiing

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
Lots and lots of it. I've been to a decent amount of concerts and I'm usually open to quite a good amount of different types.

Movies:
Into the Wild (it touches the Wanderlust side of me)
Plenty of other ones (It's always so difficult to answer a question like this? "What's your favorite....?")

Books:
Brave New World (It's the only book I've ever read twice)
And currently I've been reading Kurt Vonnegut (I love how nothing really seems to make sense until the very end of the book, when the punch line of the reality of it all hits you. If you don't know what I'm talking about read The Sirens of Titan.)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-I've performed CPR on a man and helped him live, and I've seen 2 babies being delivered by C-section.
-I have donated peripheral blood stem cells for a 67-year old man with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He's currently alive 6 months-post donation.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to absorb everybody's stories and life in and see how they connect with my reality of it all.

What I Can Share with Hosts

An open mind. A good conversation. And I cook a great Schnitzel and make fantastic hard-egg nog (eier-likor) by my grandmother's East German recipe.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Germany, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Scotland, Sweden, Turkey, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
