ABOUT ME

I'm originally from New Brunswick but moved to Ottawa in 2009, and mostly lived there since then. I'm continually fascinated by almost every aspect of the world around me, which means that my interest tends to wander, and I tend to end up changing jobs, degrees, or cities on a fairly regular basis. I recently joined the federal government to work on a major project, and am (surprisingly) enjoying it so far.

PHILOSOPHY

People are fascinating and inherently good. Sites and communities like this are a perfect example of that!

People are one of my big passions in life; I'm always interested in hearing everyone's amazing story. I'm especially interested in complex human systems and how to effect social/culture change. I'm also really active, usually playing sports at least a few times a week and going camping, hiking, etc, on weekends. I live on my bike in the summer, so long as the temperature stays somewhere below "heat-stroke".

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I had the amazing fortune of being able to work in Ghana, West Africa for 4 months with Engineers Without Borders. It's hard to describe how much I learned and realized during those short months, but the culture shock was profound and I was touched by the decency and humanity of everyone I had the privilege to work with. I think it'd be an understatement to say that the experience changed my life, but it really cemented in my mind that we are all human. I'm of no religious denomination, but I truly believe that this life is a blessing, and that, though I've been fortunate enough to be born in Canada, I deserve nothing more or less than billions of others around the world. We're all connected, and life is beautiful -- everything is grace.
