ABOUT ME

I am a beginning organic farmer seeking a place to implement my vision. I'm obsessed with food - growing it, cooking it, eating it, sharing it. I love to go dancing, can groove to all kinds of music, and enjoy having deep conversations about human nature. Getting to know interesting people fires up my creative energy. I thrive on experiencing different cultures and places.

PHILOSOPHY

I am currently in a big transition in my life - moving from following the interests of others to taking charge of my destiny and pursuing my passions. I feel like I'm at the beginning of a very creative, productive period and am finally on the path to fulfilling my potential on this earth. I am full of energy and enthusiasm to dive into this process!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new to couchsurfing and excited to try it out!

Interests

Food, dance, music, craft beer, art (low- and high-brow), urban nature, collective energy, meditation.

My goal is to run a sustainable agriculture operation, growing amazingly delicious and nutritious organic vegetables and providing a place for kids and adults to learn about food and farming. To get to this goal, I am continuing my experience as a farm apprentice so I can learn from the expertise of others. In mid-October I'll be heading out on a road trip through the southwest US, moving through New Mexico and Arizona, then into California on a search for my next opportunity. In November I will depart on a trip to Chile for three months of WWOOFing (volunteering on organic farms - yay!). During my road trip in October, I hope to find a place to land when I return to the US in March 2015, a place where I can launch my vision and pursue my dream.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all kinds of music - indie, latin, hip hop, electronic, jazz, reggae, classical, bluegrass and roots music.

I'm a writer and lover of literature, especially well-crafted novels. Some of my favorite authors are Louise Erdrich, Margaret Atwood, and Junot Diaz. I am also a big fan of graphic novels, not superhero stuff but more literary like Craig Thompson's Habibi.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the best days of my life was spent snorkeling and eating fresh-caught fish on a tiny fishing boat in the South China Sea off the coast of Vietnam.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my love of cooking and baking, my joy in food - flavors that are rich, exotic, fresh, warming. I can also share my experience with urban gardening and organic farming. I would love to be around people who are willing to speak Spanish with a beginner!
