ABOUT ME

I am 26 and have been living in Lyon for about 4 years. I "taught" English at Lyon 2 uni, but now I have a much less glamorous profession. Still. I enjoy doing stuff as much as I enjoy doing nothing. Other likes include: writing really long emails, eating cereal straight from the box, listening more than talking, being brave and daring (sometimes), coping in the fetal position and being organised by other people - left to my own devices I am at sea (but not literally). Finally I like reading books in French and then talking about them, ice cream and finding independent and unknown indie music that no one has ever heard of and impressing people with my niche knowledge. Oh yeah, I also like sweeping generalisations, hyperbole, pulling funny faces, talking to myself in the 3rd person, being underwhelmed, saying "for blates" and pretending not to care very much when I really do care (I have that one down).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would like to do CS to meet new people, to share a little bit of what I know about Lyon and to learn about cool new places and meet new folks etc.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have never done CS before, I have however met several very generous and cool and lovely hosts and surfers recently, and now I want a go!

Interests

I am interested in:
Books, languages, sports (anything at alI really, can be competitive), horses (I have a Shetland pony - though he doesn't live in the appartment), music, low level grumbling, Grey's Anatomy (and most American hospital drama), films (esp. films with subtitles), laughing and writing things in brackets.

Movies: Garden State, Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain (obviously), Monty Python (everything), Into the Wild, Donnie Darko, Almost Famous...
Books: Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit, 1984, The Poisonwood Bible, Lolita, Sartre (tho this is not a book, but a man), l'Etranger, Wild Swans, The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists, The Red Tent - I could go on...but I won't
Music: I am currently listening to... Beach House, Los Campesinos, Deportivo (French, but really quite good), Sunset Rubdown, Wolf Parade, Japandroids, The National - to name but a few.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am not sure that I have done anything sufficiently earth shattering enough to go in this box. But I will work on it. Except for that thing one time...no, not amazing enough.

Teach, Learn, Share

Ermm... I can do handstands (thats a lie). I play a bit of guitar, I am a "teacher" of English I guess that is a skill, I can cook and I like to share in ardent intellectual debate...
