About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Gain perspective about other culture within and outside the U.S.

ABOUT ME

I'm a big Ultimate player. I created and captained our college team with my friend, Dave. I take a lot of the culture tid-bits from Ultimate to heart in personal life- like inclusivity, genuine care, good-attitude, etc. There's a lot to learn from it! I'm a big exerciser when I can- I like to run, bike, swim, play whatever outside, hike, anything that keeps me active. I try to surround myself with people like that as well. I would like to compete in a triathalon at some point later on in life.

I love live music. I am not a huge music junkie but I really like going to see bands perform. I recently got the chance to go to lollapalooza in Chicago and I'm still smiling and my ears are still ringing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am an advocate of couchsurf for many reasons but namely because it redefines what it means to travel. Travelling could be viewed as barring people without the means. Couchsurf allows for a no cost visitation. That is a truly great thing. Travel is also changed in the sense that you are welcomed to embrace a culture you are traveling in. The philosophy with couchsurf to me is that a surfer will come away with a unique cultural perspective from their host. Don't just visit the tourist spots, guys! Perspective, again, is a huge deal to me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couchsurfed twice, both to Chicago with our host, Rob. He was great about being able to show us the community he is involved in. I learned a lot about his life and neighborhood as well as his big influence- jazz. Last visit he brought us out to a show he put on for a tiny, packed nightclub. It was so great!
