ABOUT ME

while i was in college I had an awesome time each summer leading mountain climbs in the pacific northwest, but now, having graduated, I'm working as a neuroscience researcher with the university of pennsylvania. as part of the job, I'm doing offsite research in hawaii, which is also awesome.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I don't really have a stable residence, as I'm moving around every 6-12 months, but all of my couchsurfing experiences have been terrific, so I look forward to hosting when I settle down a bit.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The first time I couchsurfed was in this Czech town called Olomouc where I stayed with a college student and her five flatmates - it was amazing! They took us to a Doors concert, and I met all these interesting Czechs - an amazing first time experience for me.
**Update** since then, I have couchsurfed in Copenhagen, have come to the conclusions that it is the only way to travel.

touring, meeting people, doing exactly what they say I should do, being an excellent and respectful guest, cultural heritage, good stories, anarchists, cribbage, backgammon, and card games in general

Dorothy Dunnett may be the best fiction I have ever read.

This one time, after my freshman year at college, my friends and I decided to take a two-week mountain climbing trip to the middle of British Columbia. We were all 18and got lost as hell. It was phenomenal, painful, scary, and fulfilling. It was also a fair bit more dangerous than I like to think about right now. I'll never forget it.
