About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Become awesome by meeting awesome people

ABOUT ME

I'm one of the rare athletic programmers. I have a big name in the open source world. In the athletic world, my name is very very small. I enjoy climbing, squash, and ultimate frisbee.

I've published one technology book and am looking to write something else in my free time.

PHILOSOPHY

If the cup is half full, drink until it runeth over.

I have had periods of depression, they make the positive times so much sweeter.

Fear should first be acknowledged then ignored.

That which receives attention expands, so focus on the positives.

A sense of humour can diffuse any situation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I was introduced to CS shortly before leaving my home town for Geneva, Switzerland. I'm now in Geneva, desperate to find housing, and eager to get out of the hotel I am currently in. I'm pretty sure I can find a place in the next week or so, but would like a friendly face, sleep surface, and some tips about surviving in Geneva!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I wish I'd known about CouchSurfing before, I'm completely new and untested. But I am looking forward to hosting when I get home to Canada, it is always so much fun to meet people passing through. I'll even take you to our local ultimate frisbee games, where you'll be strongly encouraged to play, regardless of skill level!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I grew up in a town called Uranium City that was a radioactive ghost town (>200 people left, used to be a few thousand) accessible only by bush planes or ice roads.

As a child, I thought that was normal.
