ABOUT ME

Currently taking a year out from every day life and experiencing South American culture and lifestyle is a great way to do so. This was something i wanted to do for a long time and one day i just decided to take a leap! Born in the England but now live in Australia, i travelled through Australia in 1998 and liked it so much that i decided to stay for a while. Worked in the construction industry for many years, but in the last 2 years i have also studied and worked in the Aged care sector, working with people with dementia. This has been a very rewarding experience and i am humbled to have helped people who need assistance with the activities of daily living. I hope to return to Australia to study nursing and continue to help people in any way possible. When you give your time and energy to others you can appreciate life for all that it is worth.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in making a difference in the world we live in, i feel that so many people have so much to offer. I would to see an end to third world poverty and debt, and for every human being to have equal opportunities. For all warfare to stop and end to all injusticies where ever they occur and to whom ever they occur. Every one can make a small difference.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I found out about this web site through a friend who recommended it to me. I like the whole concept of helping people by offering them a place to stay or perhaps just meeting for a coffe and by doing so educating people about where they live. More so i know there are some great people out there in this world who can and want to make a difference. Right now i am looking to visit people while i travel but later in time when i return home, i hope to return the favour and show people around my home town. I do believe in Karma and that good things happen to good people :-)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met people while i have travelled over seas in the past (Israel 1995) and some time later i have been fortunate enough to visit them and yes sleep on their couches!I find having a local show you around can be so rewarding, seeing sights one would probably have never seen and meeting friends and family of the people you know. I hate to wake up with a sore back in the morning lol, buts thats the price to pay for someone´s generosity in letting you stay at their home. When i first came to South America, i caught up with a life long friend in Brazil and was so appreciative of him having me stay for a week, which was truly awesome.

Interessen

I would say good health is very important to me and that i try to look after myself to the best of my abilities. I partake in Yoga, Pilates and non weight bearing exercises while i am traveling. Keeping fit on the road is no easy task and every day is a struggle to do some pro active exercises.
While i was in Australia i liked to cycle and swim but now this is not really possible.
I have a great intrest in watching sports in all forms, except for golf!
Helping other people is a genuine intrest to me and something i like to do when ever possible.
Family and friends are of great importance to me and i believe in showing and telling people of your appreciation.
Travel.... well where do i start, i have been through the middle east in 1995, Asia in 1997 and also Australia in 1998.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Traveling through Wadi Rum in Jordan was an amazing experience, the desert brings a calmness and clarity that has to be experienced. We all get lost in the groove of every day life and mother nature can help restore the balance we need in life.

Living on a kibbutz in Israel, being so close to Lebanon and Syria and experincing first hand, how people live in a militarized zone, under constant threat of Katyusha rockets firing upon them from Lebanon. Feeling like an extra cast member in some war film!

Flying over the Grand Canyon in America, which was a truly awesome experinece.

Visiting a Buddhist temple in Burma, right out in the middle of Inle lake.

And the list goes on and on ..............
