ABOUT ME

'Ello! My name is Rachel.
I am in the process of starting my own business as a Spiritual Counsellor and Healer.

I am about to embark on a Cross-Country adventure from Michigan to SoCal, stopping in several places along the way. Shortly thereafter, I will be in the UK for 6 weeks, backpacking mainly Cornwall, but we'll see where else the road takes me. Literally.

I love nature walks, and I have a knack and tendency for doing them late at night in the middle of nowhere. Strange, but too much fun to miss out on! But do be warned-- I am known for being a tree-hugger. Literally!

I love animals.

Long and intense conversation is my game.

I love to write, and intend on potentially starting yet another book (we'll see if I actually finish this one) during my travels.

If I have food and time, I'll cook dinner for you :)

PHILOSOPHY

Fear is our greatest downfall, but also our greatest teacher. When we learn to come at what we fear with love and a willingness to learn and understand it, we become stronger in ourselves, and in the world.

We fight because it's easier to get angry at other people, because our own inner turmoil is so overwhelming a problem that we'd rather face outside forces than our inner demons. So start looking inward. Start fighting your inner demons. And face the world with inner strength.

I also think humans need to find a way to connect back to nature, and live amongst it like we once did...

We are just under the cusp of our Highest Selves. The Universe is our cradle, and it will rock us to where we need to be.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I spent a semester of uni abroad in the UK, and travelled all over Europe! I had brilliant experiences meeting people through the couchsurfing project abroad, and I'd love to meet more, and be able to reciprocate!! More incredible conversations to add to my experiences, (and hopefully yours!) please :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couchsurfed in Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, and Amsterdam, and have had incredible experiences every time... other than the one time someone stole $200 from me... so hopefully nothing like that ever happens again.

I'm a metalhead at heart: Tool, BTBaM, Children of Bodom, A Perfect Circle, Agalloch, Russian Circles, Cradle of Filth, etc.
Also love classic/prog/psychedelic/grunge rock: Pink Floyd, Rush, Genesis, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, etc.
Jam bands and jazz-funk fusion: Tauk, Desmond Jones, Rodrigo and Gabriela Esperanza Spaulding, Return to Forever, Bob James, David Sanborn, etc.
And we can't forget the chill stuff, too: Liam Finn, Laura Veirs, Ani Difranco, the Fray, Alt J, Written in the Waters, Slow Magic, etc.
So those are the favs. Studied opera for a bit in high school, too, so a little classical here and there is great, and my grandpa is a jazz drummer so I have a love for that, too... but ya, I pretty much love all music :)
