About Me
I use to live the normal American life of working to survive. Two years ago I started saving and last year I left for Southeast Asia. I've travelled, met new friends, explored amazing places, and learned a lot about myself.
I'll be returning to the states exactly one year from the day I left. Not planned, it just worked out that way.
Once back I plan to travel the west coast and see the sights I missed while I was living there. Maybe I'll settle down to earn a little money and then I'll be off to another place.
In November/December I plan to join a sailboat out of Florida and sail the Caribbean. Then we will cut west and go to Colombia for the world rainbow gathering being held there next year. After that I will explore South America. I look forward to seeing Costa Rica, Peru, Argentina, and many other countries until I stop in Chile to join a small community just starting to get off the ground.
Of course those are just plans, and I'm not the best at following plans :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It's a great way to meet good people. I've been invited into many homes in Asia and those have been some of my best experiences. I'm not one to use social media too much, but I've had lots of people suggesting I do this. So I'm giving it a shot.
Interests
I'm always interested to learn something new. I started playing the cosmicbow a few months ago and I love it. It's a beautiful instrument. Check it out on YouTube :)
While in Bali I trained under a master wood carver who has been carving and performing with them for 64 years.
My drawings have not been flowing as much as they use to with my new hobbies but that is another goal to set my mind to. My medium is pens with the occasional pencil or colored pencil drawing thrown in.
Just recently got into poi and fire staff. Not good at all yet but with practice... :)
The rest of my hobbies are probably pretty self explanatory :)
- yoga
- reading
- drawing
- hiking
- wood carving
- cosmicbow
- watching life
- flow arts/fire dancing
Music, Movies, and Books
I like a wide variety of music. Anything with positive lyrics is usually what I'm drawn to.
I'm currently reading "The Teachings of Buddha" and the last book I read was "Breaking Through Spiritual Materialism" I'm open to suggestions if you have any. I do like my science fiction also :) Robert Heinlein and Orson Scott Card are two of my favorites.
Haven't gone to a movie in about a year. If someone puts one on I'm happy to watch but I don't seek them out. No horror movies please :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Having someone change a frown to a smile with my own :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to talk and listen to others. I can provide some great conversations. As for teaching.. I think we all have something we can teach each other. We just have to figure out what that is after we meet and start talking.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Depends on the host but for most I can offer a good conversation and hopefully help spread some joy!
