My girlfriend Rae and I are traveling for a year, mostly at farms through Workaway, and we’re ballin’ on a budget!

We will never go to bed without being able to say “i had fun today.” We love to adventure, to not take ourselves too seriously, and to learn something new each day.

We met in early 2020 and started dating that October… and the rest is history, or HER-story.

We followed the normative life script - high school, college, 9-5 jobs, life in a city, and then we found ourselves kinda stuck. Our creative spirits were dimmed, our lust for life was lackluster, and our connection to the land/nature was at an all time low. It became clear that this distancing from natural realness was the root cause for our anxieties, listlessness, and physical pain.

After tuning deep into our hearts, we’ve decided to listen to our intuition instead of the cultural script, and embark on a year of WorkAways around the world in order to connect with the land, build meaningful relationships, get in tune with our bodies through physical labor, meet new people living alternative lifestyles, discover other ways of being, and reimagine what life can look like when you go off-script!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We really wanna get to know the local scene wherever we go, and try not to travel too much like tourists. Couch surfing seems like the sweet spot to meet some experts, travel for cheap, and immerse ourselves into new places!

I’m a big movie buff! I love classics and dumb comedies, like Jaws and Dumb and Dumber. I quote movies like it’s my job, and i am ALWAYS looking for recs to expand my ~cinematic palette~ . Other noteworthy mentions are Bridesmaids, Easy A, Shrek, Mrs. Doubtfire, Titanic, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Forrest Gump, Good Will Hunting, The Parent Trap, Dodgeball, School of Rock, She’s The Man… to name a few.

Rae is a music lover! She is never not looking for new music to listen to. Rae loves R&B, alt pop, jazz, folk, and many genre-bending artists. She loves new artist recommendations, and seeing musicians perform live!

We’re both videographers/ photographers, and we’re always looking to create content for others. We’re interested in learning about languages, gardening and farming, sustainability, carpentry, animals, and alternative ways of living. We’re extremely curious people, and really enjoy getting to know others; what makes people feel alive, what makes them cry, what their favorite meal is - we wanna know it all!
