My name is Caitlin and I'm a 25 year old freelance illustrator and animation student at California Institute of the Arts (Calarts) in Los Angeles. I love to draw, read, meditate and travel! I have traveled a lot over the years and met many people via study abroad, airbnb, etc., but I'm brand new to couch surfing!

I went to school in San Francisco for 4 years for illustration, and lived in Portland, OR before moving to LA to go back to school. I'm a very relaxed person and I love to try new things. I also love to draw things for everyone I meet!

My friend Mor and I are on a cross country road trip headed to New York! We are both animation students attending California Institute of the Arts near Los Angeles. We are visiting friends and exploring parts of the US we've never seen, hoping to learn and gain inspiration for the films we make at school. I come from a military family and have traveled a lot over the years, and Mor is an exchange student from Israel. We're excited to meet new people and make new friends as often as we can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm traveling across the country with my roommate, and we're on a student budget. We love to meet new people and experience different lifestyles, so couch surfing is perfect for us!

Music, Movies, and Books

My music tastes include Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver, The Strokes, Frank Ocean, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Andrew Bird, Beirut and many others. I love Scorsese films, Tarantino films, Star Wars (the originals), anything by Hayao Miyazaki, and Spike Jonze films. My favorite book is Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins, followed closely by the Harry Potter series and a book I'm currently reading called The Unbearable Lightness of Being.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once backpacked across Europe, visiting 5 countries and 8 cities in 25 days! It was an amazing and challenging experience that taught me a lot.
