About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to meet awesome people like you!

ABOUT ME

I'm definitely a "francophile" and am always on the lookout for opportunities to speak in French. I spent a year on exchange in Lyon, France and absolutely LOVED my time there. I went back to France for an internship at UNESCO in Paris a few years ago. Now I've even found myself a group of French friends in Toronto!

I think the best part of learning another language is the opportunity it gives you to connect with people you wouldn't otherwise have been able to.

I've studied in Ottawa and Toronto. I've worked with young children and families at Ontario Early Years Centres and now I'm a French Immersion kindergarten teacher in Toronto.

PHILOSOPHY

Be kind. Be positive. Keep trying.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I loved couchsurfing while I was travelling in Europe. I had great hosts in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, and Italy. I had a short layover in Morroco last year and had a wonderful afternoon, thanks to Couchsurfing.

I hosted a bit when I lived in France and in Ottawa but haven't really been active with CS since my return to Toronto. I'm looking forward to getting back into hosting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was first introduced to couchsurfing in September '08, at the beginning of a year-long student exchange in Lyon, France. A friend and I had planned to stay with an acquaintance of hers when we first arrived. When we got there, we learned that there had been a misunderstanding and it wasn't going to work.

My friend Katie was a CS member and put out an emergency couch surfing request. We had multiple people offer us their couches and we were hosted for the 4 or 5 days needed until we could move into apartments. What could have been a bad/disappointing experience actually turned out to be really great, thanks to CS.

Interests

I love playing softball and Irish dance. I've more recently started playing ultimate frisbee and I'm liking that too.

I like to have a good time and I also love taking naps. I love watching thunderstorms and singing along to the radio.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not a big decision-maker music-wise. I tend to listen to what friends or roommates are playing.

I also have a fairly limited knowledge of pop culture. Actors' names, movies, bands. I am never the person who knows the name you're looking for.

I love to read. I'm the type of person who will start reading a book at night and stay up till 4am to finish it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I love being away from the city and looking up at all the stars in the night sky... or kayaking on the lake really early in the morning when the water is extremely calm.

My year in France, with travelling and couchsurfing was pretty amazing too.
