ABOUT ME

i'm currently traveling between my undergraduate degree and when i go back for more, with a goal for this time of expanding my horizons cause as i see it there are so many more ways to look at the world. i'm typing this in addis ababa, ethiopia, just finishing some volunteer work. i'm a follower of Christ, and i like to think that my faith influences who i am and leads me to believe that loving and serving others is the way to experience full life. besides that, i think i like to laugh more than anything else.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

my whole goal for my time in spain is to get to know people and their culture, so when i heard about couchsurfing it made perfect sense. when i finally get back to the states i'd like to host someone when i get a place with my old roomates.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i haven't coachsurfed myself, but while living in raleigh my roomates and i had an attitude that if someone needed a place to stay we were willing to help. so one of our roomates might have a friend or two stay on the couch for a week or more, or sometimes people would just show up on the couch when we woke up in the morning.

reading, music of all kinds (both cliche, but both more true than any other answer i could give), hanging out with good friends long after the meal is finished, playing footbal/basketball, long roadtrips, just laughing

i think i'm not the only one who wishes that the most profound ideas he lives by were more readily available in quote form when asked like this, but for now i would have to say that cs lewis says "if you want to be desired, be desirable". i generally try to have the attitude that i don't care what others think of me, so i'm gonna keep dressing like a bum and living for the things that are important to me and not the image i give off. but this quote still rings true, it's just another way of saying what jesus said to love each other and treat one another the way we want to be treated, and not the way that we deserve to be treated, cause this just leads to an attitude of tit for tat. besides that i believe that we should be open-minded and not sweat the small stuff.
