putting down roots...
My name is Chris and I live in Oakland, California with my Wife. I mold young minds by trade, but hit the road any chance I can get. I enjoy meeting new people and learning new things.
"So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. the joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I try to be as gracious of a host as my hosts have been to me.
My CS experiences have been amazing. It has truly changed the way I travel and in hence the way I live, all for the better. I wish I was using CS years ago! I have hosted and been hosted. The people I have met have been incredible. I have learned so much about different cultures and ways of life.
Anything....anytime I try something I gain a little.
Music, Movies, and Books
My all time favorite movies are: Gladiator, Almost Famous, Blood Diamond, Slumdog Millionaire, and Into the Wild.
Seems like I only read when I travel, I got to work on adjusting this.
I am really into most music, but lately have been listening to a lot of folk/rock stuff.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I see people everyday who sacrifice themselves for others. To me, it doesnt get much more amazing than that.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love if you would come into my classroom and talk to my students about your country and tell them about your life back home, they are always amazed!I would love to learn more about different countries and cultures. I truly feel that traveling and meeting people from all around the world is the best education that one could ever receive. If you visit I would thoroughly enjoy discussing anything and everything with you just so I could learn a little more about this world we live in.
