About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Find more ways to fall in love with traveling.....

ABOUT ME

I'm not your typical American female college student. I plan to live anywhere but the US once I've finished law school. I tend to think in Portuguese, Spanish, and English at all times. I love playing/watching any type of sport. I relax with a good book and my iPod on high. I enjoy cooking for my friends and sipping a glass of red wine. I'm quirky, laid-back, bubbly, outgoing, yet often shy and more of a listener. I don't really fit into a particular mold of hippie, preppie, jock, "pija", etc, but rather take on characteristics of all of them. I'm the "social director" of my friends in that I'm the planner; the "mom" that takes care of everyone, figures out what we're going to do, and where we do it....

I spent over a year living in Buenos Aires, and now I consider my life to be broken up into 2 stages: Before Argentina and After Argentina. Granted, the "Before Argentina" stage is slightly more filled than the "After Argentina" stage, but I'm working on it with an internship in Spain this summer... I spent quite a bit of time traveling around both Argentina and other countries in South America, and have decided that's where my heart truly lies. My Spanish-speaking friends joke that I should have been born into a family from a latin country instead of an American one....

When I go to a new place I like to get lost. Basically just spend my time wandering around the city/town/etc, to really see how the people live their daily lives. I love learning the idiosyncrasies of a new place and seeing the nitty-gritty, not just the pretty sights. Whether it be in my own country or some other location. There are still soooooooo many places in this world that fascinate me and I can't wait to finally explore them one day....

PHILOSOPHY

Live by the Golden Rule.
Always keep a smile on my face.
Life never gives you more than you can handle.
Always try things at least once.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've really only couch-surfed once, in Lisbon, and it was amazing. They were so friendly, interesting, and just all-around cool people. In Porto, we ended up not staying the night with our couch-surfers, but just hung out with them, and chatted the night away.

Interests

Sports: any and all, but especially futbol, football, and tennis.

Wine: I love wine culture, particularly that of red wine. The first place I head in any grocery store is the wine section to check out their selection.

Photography: I love photography. I feel like black and white film photography is a lost art that should be brought back. I prefer taking photos with my 35mm camera as opposed to digital. I also love checking out other photographers' works, whether it be in color, film, black and white, or digital.....

Artesanias: I know this is a Spanish word, but it just doesn't translate into English very well. Basically anything that's handmade by someone else, whether it be a painting, photography, bracelet, earrings, purse, belt, etc...

Languages: I'm currently working on Portuguese (mostly Brasilian Portuguese), after having mastered Spanish. I want to learn at least a couple more languages after Portuguese.

Books: Any type really. I love losing myself in the plot of a good book and escaping the world around me.

Music: Pretty eclectic collection on my iPod. Suffice to say that I can't go a day without spending hours listening to it. Along with music, I love love love concerts. There's nothing quite like seeing an artist live in their element.

Traveling: This is an obvious one. I would spend my life traveling if I could swing it. It's in my blood. Going from one place to another to see how other cultures live.
