2026 Update: I have been taking a break from hosting couch surfers recently, hosting by exception if I see a public trip by someone who seems interesting or from a place I haven't been.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For a long time I was so busy making big trips around Australia that I wasn't travelling overseas at all, and so Couch Surfing was my opportunity to meet like-minded, younger people with an adventurous spirit. I'm now doing lots of overseas travel but your adventure still inspires me to book a flight!

I have lots of experience travelling around Australia and think I give pretty good travelling advice.
I love meeting people from all over the world and hearing your travel stories!

I'm aware of the stigma around hosts with lots of female references. Please note that most of my guests have been couples and the female partner tends to be the one with the couch surfing profile. I accept men and women equally!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Unfortunately, at the moment, I am so busy with work and triathlon training that I probably won't have time to show you around.
However, I can point you towards some great places to camp, hike or swim. I can also tell you some great places to visit, eat and hang out while you're in the Cairns region.

* I don't have home WiFi but you are welcome to hotspot off my phone. I may forget to offer but I am very happy to share. Please ask! 😊

The room: private Queen bed and the main bathroom. I provide bed linen and towels, tourist information and some arrival information/house rules. The main rule is please respect my house and belongings.

There is a nice pool in the apartment complex which you are welcome to use any time.

* Guests are expected to clean up after themselves and generally respect my house and furniture as I do. Guests are asked to give your bedroom and bathroom a quick clean before departure.

I prefer to host guests for 2 or 3 nights. I don't usually accept one-night stay requests.

I enjoy hosting but it is an investment of my time, privacy and personal space. Bringing a small token such as a bottle of wine, or a few beers, or cooking a meal during your stay, goes a long way and is appreciated! 😊🍷
