Overview
About Me
I am totally new to this and have read some mixed reviews but giving it a go since I am an intrepid traveller and thought it worth a try. I'm an emigre to Australia who was born and raised in Manhattan, an avid but amateur cyclist (no lycra), a writer by avocation and also a good sight reader and player of piano music.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am doing some travelling very soon and will be away for a while so thought I would see how this works. I don't know what to expect but hope to at least meet a few people I wouldn't otherwise. The occasional overnight homestay would be a bonus.
Interests
Classic movies, history, playing piano, jazz, fine art, cycling, bushwalking and hiking, and short fiction. This year I've just started to work on getting my Spanish up from basic tourist level to, hopefully, semi fluency by the end of the year.

Music, Movies, and Books
This keeps changing as I read, watch and listen more so I won't even hazard an answer. I have quite eclectic tastes and am always open to discovery of new things.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Quite a few but cycling the Rockies comes to mind immediately.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can give basic piano lessons or entertain by playing. I'm a good raconteur and a good listener too.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Not sure how to answer this but I'm happy to help out however I can and I am a guest who leaves things better than he found them. I suppose I'll improve this answer as I get some more experience with this.
