About Me

We are the traveling duo, Cameron and Rachel, who have now entered the world of Couchsurfing after traveling and meeting many others who have such great things to say about the experiences that came from using this program. Rachel and I are not your average travelers, we have been on an extraordinary adventure, traversing the globe on foot. Our journeys have taken us through some of the most beautiful and diverse landscapes, allowing us to truly immerse ourselves in the cultures and communities we encounter along the way.

As avid thru-hikers, we thrive on the challenges and rewards of long-distance walking. The simplicity of putting one foot in front of the other, the rhythm of our breath, and the ever-changing scenery that unfolds before us - these are the elements that fuel our passion for journeying by foot. We have walked a total of 11,500km since 2021, and have left our footprints on the trails of Spain, Italy, England, Wales, Scotland, France, South Korea, the US and New Zealand.

Each country we have walked through has offered its own unique blend of experiences. From the sun-drenched vineyards of Spain to the rugged cliffs of Scotland, we have had the chance to marvel at the beauty of nature, all while feeling the resilience of the human spirit on a personal level. The beauty of traveling by foot is that it allows us to slow down, to savor the moments, and to truly appreciate the world around us. We have learned to live with less, to be present in the here and now, and to embrace the unknown with open arms. Every blister, every ache, and every rain-soaked night under the stars is a reminder of the richness of the human experience.

But our journey is not just about the miles we cover. It is about the people we meet, the connections we make, and the shared experiences that bind us together as a common community. Along the way, we have forged deep connections with fellow hikers, locals, and fellow travelers. We have been welcomed into so many homes and hearts around the world, sharing meals, stories, and laughter with people from all walks of life. We are eternally grateful to those who have opened their doors and hearts to us, showering us with amazing hospitality and kindness that we will never forget.

As we continue on our journey, we carry with us the lessons we have learned, the friendships we have forged, and the memories we have made. We are grateful for the opportunity to explore this beautiful planet, to walk in the footsteps of those who came before us, and to share our love of adventure with people from all corners of the globe. Our time on the trail has taught us to live in the moment, to savor the simple pleasures, and to appreciate the chaos of the world around us.

We approach each new country with open hearts and open minds, ready to soak in the sights, sounds, and flavors that make each place unique. We are eternally grateful to those who are willing to welcome us into their homes with such warmth and hospitality, sharing their stories, their culture, and their kindness with us. These moments of connection are what help to make our journey truly unforgettable.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As foreigners being welcomed into the homes of our hosts, Rachel and I approach this experience with a deep desire to learn and connect. We are eager to immerse ourselves in the culture, to learn from our hosts, and hopefully gain a deeper understanding of their customs, traditions, and way of life. We look forward to sharing meals, conversations, and an understanding that transcends language and nationality. Our time spent walking is not just about exploring a new country; it's about building connections, fostering mutual respect, and celebrating the beauty of human connection in all its forms.

Music, Movies, and Books

When we're not on the trail, you can often find us engrossed in a board game. Board gaming is a favorite pastime that allows us to unwind, exercise our strategic thinking. The thrill of a well-played game and the camaraderie that comes with it add an extra dimension of fun to our partnership.

Our love for cinema is another shared interest that transcends language and culture. From classic films to indie gems, we appreciate the artistry and storytelling that cinema offers.

Teach, Learn, Share

We love learning about the cultures around the world and embrace the opportunity to delve into the unique cultures of the countries we visit. Whether it's sampling local cuisine, learning traditional customs, or participating in cultural festivals, we are always eager to expand our horizons and connect with the people and traditions that make each place unique.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As guests in the homes of generous hosts along our journey, Rachel and I bring with us a wealth of experiences, stories, and genuine connections that we are eager to share. Our adventures on the road have not only taken us through diverse landscapes but have also introduced us to a myriad of people, cultures, and perspectives. We can offer our hosts a window into our world, sharing tales of triumphs and challenges, laughter and friendship, and the beauty of human connection that transcends borders. Whether it's recounting our hiking escapades in distant lands, engaging in lively discussions about cinema, or immersing our guests in the intricacies of thru hiking, we bring a sense of openness, curiosity, and gratitude to every home we are welcomed into.
