About Me

Hello everyone! My name is Camilla, I’m 28 years old and I live in Bologna, where I studied Illustration for Publishing at the Academy of Fine Arts. Drawing and reading are my greatest passions — I love everything from illustrated books and comics to novels and essays.

I’m a cheerful, kind, sensitive, and curious person. I love meeting new people and listening to their stories because I believe empathy is essential to creating genuine connections.

I enjoy traveling, discovering new cultures, and challenging myself with new experiences. I love cooking, and in my free time I like to relax in nature (whenever I can), listen to music (another very important part of my life), or take part in creative events to keep learning and growing.

I’d be happy to meet you and share new ideas together :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I want to travel and discover, discover, and discover.
I want to see new places, create new bonds, and build new connections.

Interests

My hobbies — which often turn into work as well — are definitely drawing and creating new stories. I really love reading, both novels and essays, as a way to constantly expand my knowledge of things.
Music is another fundamental part of my life — I often try to combine drawing and music by creating projects that bring the two together.
I love sewing, video editing, making animations, walking, being in nature, spending time with animals, and meeting new people.

Music, Movies, and Books

At this moment in my life, I would say my favorite books are:
-The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
-The Notebook Trilogy (The Notebook, The Proof, The Third Lie) by Ágota Kristóf
-Unknown Language by Huw Lemmey (about Hildegard of Bingen)

It's really hard for me to say what I like in terms of music, because I listen to something different every day. I can say that I really love experimental and innovative music of any genre.
The bands and artists I'm listening to the most at the moment are:
-Moin
-Shed Theory
-Xiu Xiu
-Tirzah

If you want, you can follow me on the Letterboxd app (camilladubhe), where I’ve saved all my favorite films. But for now, I’d say my top 4 are:
-Midsommar by Ari Aster
-Ghost in the Shell by Mamoru Oshii
-The Legend of 1900 (La leggenda del pianista sull’oceano) by Giuseppe Tornatore
-Belladonna of Sadness by Eiichi Yamamoto

Teach, Learn, Share

Things I could teach are obviously related to drawing, sewing, graphic design, animation, and of course many DIY activities, like working with clay (such as Das).
Naturally, I can also teach my native language — Italian.

I love learning anything and everything, so whatever new skill or knowledge someone will be willing to share with me, I’ll be more than happy and eager to learn.

Above all, I believe that sharing ideas, thoughts, and personal tastes is the most important thing I look for when meeting new people — and it’s something that really matters to me in life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I’m great company — I know how to listen, take care of others, and always have fun. Plus, I’m really good at cooking! And I think that’s definitely a great skill to have.
