About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Nobody can do everything, but everbody can do something... As Gandhi said: You may never know what results come from your action. But if you do nothing, there will be no result.

ABOUT ME

... a danish/Norwegian/Icelandic
anthropology/environmental student, organically borned
and raised, Thoreauvian idealist, music moving and
(soon) ukulele-playing, living in order to eat (and
not merely eating to live), open minded
get-a-kick-out-of-meeting-people, explosively
energetic yet calm within - striving to learn more
yoga and meditation, while running marathon, with the
summer of '09 dedicated to wwoofing and exploring
various ecovillages...

PHILOSOPHY

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed
by the things that you didn't do than by the ones
you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away
from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in
your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." -- Mark Twain

" Do not be afraid to build castles in the air.
That is where they belong.
But once the dreams are in place,
Your job is to build the foundations under them." - Henry David Thoreau

"I'd rather want what I have than have what I want"

"Im living my life simple so others can sipmly live"

"Be realistic - demand the impossible"

"You must be the change you want to see in the world"

"We did not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrowed it from our children."

"Small footprints do not need to mean pinched feet"

"Our Earth is not a commodity, but our community"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

If u know Johannes Møllehave, I believe in his words about the inherent potential in every meeting - just think of the thousands of people we meet though a lifetime, but how many do we actually take the time to get to know? How many of these meetings do we take advantage of? So many people, so many interesting new perspectives just passing by every second - imagine what all these potential meetings can bring...

I refuse to take any CS down Karl Johan (main shopping street)! This is a place with no local expression - only massive commercial stores where people can overconsume on stuff they dont really need - and make u forget which country ur actaully in. And I hate cafees with no soul and overprices on bad food!

But what I DO like to share with CS'ers stopping by at my place: if staying in - we'll occupy the kitchen and cook devine foods, play games, have exotic tea, share music of the world, story telling from unknow places of unknow people around the world... If going out - then to some small, "unknow" places (at least to the Planet Book), the Grønland vegetable market, the beautiful parks/green spots, "getting lost" (meaning just walking without knowing where), finding hidden alleys, a picknick in the fjord, a hike in N,W,E-marka camping, fishing, horseback riding, crossing a river, meeting a trold or the like. Of museums I prefer the Intercultural Center, going to Cinemateket, the Film museum, National Art gallery, HC, Nobel Peace Center - to these places I'd easily be persuaded to come any time :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been a memeber for a looong time - but - as it shows, I've never used it that much! This is a new goal: CS is to good to pass on!

I often have international friends travelling through though, so Im quite "experienced" just not in CS!

Interests

Nature:
walking in it, running in it, riding in it, looking at it, sleeping in it, travelling in it, climbing its mountains, scuba diving in its oceans, skydiving in the sky - protecting it as good as I can meanwhile of course!
Anthropology:
The human being interests me! What can I say - humans and cultures are the object of my studies!
Hobbies:
Im...
a scout on mondays, in a running-club tuesdays, in a monthly international book-club, a volunteer in a church in Tøyen for drugadicts, alcoholists on wednesdays, occationally help in the FairTrade butik in Center, the indoctrinator of a GREENING project in my appartment complex with the help of Squrriels, and I enjoy harrasing the people I work with (office-people) making them be MORE ACTIVE!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love books...
My prince doesn't come on a white horse, but with a latter! A latter that is necessary to climb the sky high book shelves in the liberary he has build for us!

I particularly love when people recommend good, unknown books - regardless of genre - so therefore, let yourself be inspired, these have recently made an impact on me!

Peter Høeg - De måske egnede
Paulo Coelho - ofcourse the alchymist, but mostly Veronica decides to die and 11 minutes!
Mikael Neimi - Vittula
Henry David Thoreau - Walden
Sjòn - Skygga Baldur
Richard Bach - Jonathan Livingston Seagul

Updating my music liberary is a daily activity of mine... Some of the more permanent ones are:

- Husky Rescue
- Sigur Ros
- Dave Mattthews Band
- The Postal Service

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just lived in Iceland for a year - the nature there, as well as the icelanders, are truly unik! Most recently I climbed 2 mountains, passing from one fjord to the other, in snowstorm, deep snow, steep hills, icecaves - all on icelandic horses! A 200km long horseride trip, 100 loose horses, with local icelandic friends... WAUW!
