About Me

Hello friends! I'm a New Yorker looking to make some friends and explore new places in Europe this Fall. I'm taking a two month German language course in Leipzig and I'd love the opportunity to practice my German! I'm originally from Tucson, AZ and went to college in Denver, CO for vocal performance. I sing opera and teach voice and piano lessons.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing to meet new people and fellow travelers. I love the idea of meeting locals and seeing cities from their perspectives.
I'm also trying to learn German, French and Italian!

Interests

Some of my favorite things in life: coffee, 70's progressive rock, gardening, reading, hiking, pretending like I know how to cook, hanging out with friends and exploring new places!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I sing opera and went to school for classical voice. I teach piano and voice, and perform classical music and musical theater in the US. Some of my favorite composers are Debussy, Richard Strauss, Brahms, Poulenc, Beethoven and Schubert. I also really love 60's and 70's music, like Yes, Jethro Tull, Genesis, The Meters, Paul Simon, Led Zeppelin and Bob Dylan. Newer stuff: Fionna Apple, the shins, neutral milk hotel, Quilt, rage against the machine, Andrew bird, devendra banhart, sigour ros and Björk.

Movies: Wes Anderson, Quentin Tarantino, Cohen Brothers, Miyasaki, Kubrick.

Books: I'm on a big Murakami binge right now. But I love American classics, nonfiction, fantasy and science fiction. Some of my favorites are Tolkien, Dune, anything Mary Roach, the goldfinch, Angela's ashes. I'm always open to book recommendations.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I made my operatic debut at the age of 23.

Teach, Learn, Share

This Fall has, and continues to be, a learning experience for me as I study in Germany. I'm trying to be open to new ideas and ways of living, maintain a positive attitude and share my feelings and thoughts with others.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share conversation, good food, laughter and music with my hosts. I love playing music and jamming with others. I'd love to take my host out to dinner or cook for them!
