About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel the world and see art along the way.

ABOUT ME

I am an art teacher from Manitoba who loves to travel.
Some of my favourite things include:
making art, traveling, walking, indie/folk music, photography, the prairies, drinking tea, croissants, french bread, getting together with friends, looking at antiques, outdoor festivals, live theatre(especially musicals), looking at art, going on adventures, camping...

I'm a pretty easy-going person with a positive outlook on life. I have a quirky sense of humour, and enjoy meeting new people.

PHILOSOPHY

I am a Christian. I live life aiming to appreciate and be grateful for the things that come my way, even if it's not always what I wanted. I seek to honour God in the way I live by treating others the way I would want to be treated.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm open to helping surfers tour around should they make their way through Winnipeg. I will be living with my brother, so don't know yet if he's ok with people surfing his couch...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't had the pleasure yet of having an official couch surfing experience, however have stayed with people in both Guatemala and Mexico City(separate from the couchsurfing site) and had really good experiences. I stayed with a young Guatemalan family close to Antigua for 6 weeks, as well in Mexico stayed with a Canadian woman who was wonderful in sharing her home with me and another American girl.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourite movies include Royal Tennenbaums and Amelie.
My musical taste is eclectic including Canadian folk singers such as Bahamas to Classic Rock like the Doors.
I like to read memoirs and biographies because I like hearing about people's true accounts of their lives, and getting different points of views.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well I've never been shot out of a canon or anything interesting like that, but one the two things that come to mind about what I've seen are the pyramids at Tikal In Guatemala, and the New York Skyline at night from the Empire State building.

Teach, Learn, Share

Hmm...alright things I've learned(but I don't feel that this is particularly insightful...):
-Life is better if you smile more.
-It's not usually worth it to wear uncomfortable shoes for fashion purposes (only sometimes...)
-If you're not sure, ask.
-If you travel, always bring your own pillow.
-Taking the time/money for travel is always worth it.
-people are people no matter where you go
