Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am hoping to use Couchsurfing to meet new people and have fun exploring different places. Perhaps in the future when I move on from dorm living I might be able to offer a living space to other Couchsurfers.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy all types of music. My favorite musicians span from Led Zeppelin to Nirvana to Otis Redding to Kendrick Lamar. My favorite live shows have been Neutral Milk Hotel and Badbadnotgood. My favorite movie is Cool Hand Luke. My favorite author is Toni Morrison and my favorite book by her is "The Bluest Eye".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I used to volunteer for a Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center. It was a very hands on job that got me really involved in veterinary work. I primarily worked with fawns and in the aviary with all the birds. I was able to see and work with all varieties of animals (chimps, capuchin monkeys confiscated from an abuser, a bear, a lion who had to be kept in captivity because his lack of a mane due to a cruel act of castration, a fennec fox with serious codependency, raccoons, turtles, possums, skunks, vultures, and a paraplegic pig named Toast and many more). Many were orphaned, injured, abandoned, or illegal ex-pets. The goal with every animal was to release them back into the wild with the exception of those unable to survive in their natural habitat. I am very passionate about animals and wildlife healthcare and even began my higher education as a pre-vet student.

Teach, Learn, Share

My French is good enough to hold a conversation so I may, at the least, be able to offer you a fair partner to practice French with. I am also passionate about social justice and issues of race in society so I'm always willing to educate my peers who are willing to listen and learn. Likewise, I'm happy to share in on programs or projects that build community, aid or bring together marginalized peoples and just be a support or an ally to people of all gender identities, abilities, ethnicities, sexualities, and classes.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Most of my "Teach, Learn, Share" section includes what I have that I can offer but I can additionally offer my kindness and possibly some stories. I'm a pretty reasonable and friendly person. The worst thing about me is probably that I talk about Texas a lot.
