About Me

ABOUT ME

I am positive, friendly, bright, outgoing, and a total coffee addict! I'm in London for work, play and travel and would like to meet as many like-minded people as possible for fun times / day trips / adventures / nights out.

You can check me out on www.facebook.com/candice.gleeson.x if you want to know a bit more about me, or just send me a message and we can get to know each other that way!

Also, not fluent in German - but there was no other option! I know basic conversational German.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participate by attending events and inviting other members to spend a day with me so we can explore London together. I have only been here a few months myself so there is much to see and do!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't stayed on any couches yet but plan on hitting Europe for some travels over the next year so I will definitely be looking for some fun people to crash with. I haven't hosted anyone yet but am open to having people ask! Unfortunately my housemates aren't into the Couchsurfing thing but I can probably convince them to let someone stay for a night or two :)

Interests

Interests and hobbies of mine are reading, movies, travelling, markets, exploring new places, meeting new people, psychology, fitness and outdoor activities, food, dancing all night + sleeping all day, politics, bike rides (but I don't have a bike here yet! Wah!), sunshine, board games, gigs, good weather days, science, patting dogs, linguistics, banter, learning new information, society and culture, art, music - almost all genres - even noise!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music-wise I need to give a boring answer and say that I like/appreciate just about anything, from classical to electronica to post rock to noise. At the moment I am listening to Brand New, Beck, HTRK and Air French Band regularly but this is just a small sample of a big collection.
I have to say that the Indiana Jones trilogy are my all-time favourites! I also really like Vanilla Sky for the themes depicted (futuristic / lucid dreaming). I mostly like 'thinking' films and documentaries, but to switch off I enjoy comedy and horror.
Books-a-plenty! John Steinbeck is my favourite fiction author with Donna Tartt coming in at close second. I've read most of what you could expect for a cliche of my age [Catcher in the Rye, To Kill a Mockingbird et al) and I also enjoy books where I can learn / 'better' myself. I like Peter Singer for that kind of stuff and anything to do with the human mind / how it works, and I have about a million science books. Love you Dr Karl.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of my favourite memories is New Years Eve 2011 in Australia. Some friends and I camped in the bushland nearby one of my all time favourite beaches, and at around 4.30 am we stumbled through the bush to the sand dunes, then through the sand dunes until we found a smooth, flat spot to sit on and huddle up. We sat and watched the sunrise over the dunes with the sound of the ocean in the background; the sky was pink and tangerine and we could hear the birds waking up in the bush behind us. Easily my favourite and most magical way I have spent watching the New Year begin!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an excellent procrastinator! If you want to learn how to procrastinate just ask me ;)

But really, I love useless trivia, baking, science, human nutrition so I can teach you about those things, and some of the things listed in my interests (did you know that board games can increase your brain capacity?). And anything to do with Australia - I'm born and bred Australian so anything you want to know, I'm your girl.

I am ready and willing to learn anything new, I believe that everyone has something to teach, great or small!
