About Me

Euskara ikasi nahi dut.

I want to learn some basque and get to know Basque country!

Non-hippy, secular buddhist with affinity to introverted arts (Fernando Pessoa in literature, Eliane Radigue in music) with a pinch of absurdist influence (Daniil Charms). Reader, story teller, improviser, cook, problem solver, language learner, inventor, surviver with minimum, hiker-dancer-biker,

After being 7 years outside of EU, I am trying to find the best solution to live back in Europe. I would like to get to know people and communities in the Pyrenees and Basque country in order to settle in this area at some point eventually.

I am an artist musician (www.sleepsignal.org) and a trainer in non-formal education, speak more than 10 languages. I am good in gardening and taking care of animals, have extensive experience in wwoofing in various farms in Portugal. I appreciate sharing food and stories at the fire.

secular and unspectacular buddhism in its invisible forms (i do not have a tattoo with buddha and will not bring incense everywhere, hehe). i do not see the point in making a career and being famous, want to make small living and dedicate myself completely to music. while traveling i am not very much interested in famous places, rather in people. i like old taoist readings and stories . one of them says if you are a beautiful tree somebody will come and make out a chair of you. better be twisted and crooked on the edge of the field, so nobody takes care, thus you can live long life.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

I did not use much until now, but now I want to learn Basque people, so here I am!

I received hospitality mostly from people that do not connect to the internet.

to live and be happy with little food, but with company to share, enjoy million star hotel sleeping outside, exchanging stories at the fire, be amazed by things, learn languages, listen and make fine experimental music (like eliane radigue!!), inventing projects in adult education with non-formal learning, i like to investigate regions and find out everything i can about caucasus, black sea, central asia, etc. i like to understand how brain works, so i read books on neuroscience and do experiments, since years i am trying to write a book, but it is still in my head and not on paper

Music, Movies & Books

I make music, so I like it best:

Music: Coil, Eliane Radigue for experimental stuff, Mojo Club funk music, Jorge Ben Jor
Films: Brother Where Art Thou; Fargo, other films by Coen brothers, by Lars von Trier
Books: The Book of Disquiet by Fernando Pessoa, historical books on Caucasus, Middle East, Bactria

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Grew up in a bohemian underground environment of Lithuania under Soviet occupation; lived as a refugee in a monastery in Poland; crossed boarders in Europe without visas in the early '90s; lived as a nomad for years, traveling by bike and living in a tent for several years; cooked Thai food for Cuban peasants; was taken hostage in Georgia; lived a winter in a remotest mountain village in time and space in Adjara; made people laugh in Damascus answering the question where i come from with "ena shamye"; made Turkish ambassador in Lithuania angry by publishing an article about Kurdish people in Turkey; reclaimed public spaces in Vilnius; did a one-woman subversive action within a neo-nazi demonstration in Vilnius; taught Turkish girls to ride a bike; was robbed in Greece; carried on bikes an entire recording studio through South East Asia recording music; tried to live a sedentary normal life in Berlin for 2 years, but proudly failed
