Taking a year sabbatical to learn Spanish and discover South America starting in Patagonia and aiming for Columbia with all countries inbetween!

ABOUT ME

I grew up in South Africa and moved to England when I was 23. Since then I worked for 10 years in telecommunications until the end of 2011. For many reasons, at this point I quit my job and started a year of travel through Central and South America to broaden my horizons and learn Spanish. A year turned into two and I now find myself in France learning French.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For now I'll be asking for a couch, but when I eventually return to London/Cape Town/wherever, I'll have a comfy couch up for grabs.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It has been mixed. I can only comment on surfing and I have not been a host yet. While I had a wonderful experience in Ecuador, a host in Chile was a bit too clingy for my liking.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Travelled through Central South America - Trekking through Torres del Paine in Argentina and Cordillera Huayhuash in Peru. Galapagos islands in Ecuador, Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia and Mayan ruins in Guatemala were amazing!
I've also been on safari in South Africa and Tanzania and have travelled a bit through India. I love the contact with nature and different cultures.

Can play piano and percussion. Studied electrical engineering so pretty handy with DIY, cars, motorbikes, etc.
