About Me

Hi there! I'm Carla from Córdoba, the city where I was born and where I've lived for most of my live. I think that I represent pretty well the idiosyncrasy and philosophy of the people of Córdoba: the "cordobeses" are known for being open-minded, kind, humorous and funny people.

I have dual nationality, Argentinian by birth and Swiss by my family origins (by my granddad's parents who emigrated from TI - Switzerland).
In fact, my family origins are 25% Swiss, 50% Italian and 25% Spanish. So, the interculturality runs in my blood! ..maybe that's why I love intercultural experiences ;)

Well, here we go with some random facts about me:
Despite I tend to be a mental and analytical person, I really enjoy being spontaneous. I love laughing till my stomach hurts. I like looking at people's eyes. I appreciate honesty and truth. I love hugs. I really enjoy deep and interesting conversations but I'm also ready for party or going out. I love having fun!
I consider myself as a pretty adaptable and flexible person who really enjoys and respects the diversity.
I tend to be a positive and laid-back person, easy to get along with. I don’t like fighting and I rarely get angry. When some problem arises with someone I prefer to talk about it, calmly but directly.
People say that I’m a funny person and a good friend. I’m not "Mother Teresa of Calcutta" but I like helping and supporting others, specially my loved ones, making them feel good.
As I’m a curious person who likes learnig about everything, I usually try new things with enthusiasm and interest.
Despite I'm a talkative and very sociable person who really like being around people and sharing with them, I'm also enjoy being alone, taking a moment for myself.
I love spicy food and I like drinking, specially wine, coffe or "mate" (a typical argentinian hot beverage)

My philosophy is: “Everything has a positive side”

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I totally agree with its spirit and what it promotes.
I've always believed that the soul of a city is in its people, and the experience of reach out to meet locals is the best way to explore and really get to know the essence of the place that you are visiting. That's why when I'm traveling I like meeting local people to learn local culture and customs, and (in the best of cases) get introduced to their friends and lifestyles.

Besides, I think that if you get involved in another culture with appreciation and open senses, meeting people from other parts of the world and hearing different perspectives has the power to transform you, in some way. In my personal intercultural experiences I've realized that the more I learn about the “other”, the more I learn about myself.

Interests

As I’m used to live in a big city I enjoy the diverse entertainment possibilities that are available in a city. I like going to the cinema, to the theater (I prefer independent theater), to a music concert; I like going out to restaurants or night bars with friends, or stuff like that! But I also love the nature and the peace and quite of the countryside. As Cordoba city is surrounded by mountains, whenever I can I like going to the outskirts of the city to explore and enjoy the nature
I love the sea. Unfortunately Cordoba is far away from the sea, but I definitely love visiting small beach towns.
I love animals. I enjoy spending time with family, listening to music, reading a good book, going out and having fun, trying different kind of food, having a good meal with friends, drinking a glass of wine and having interesting conversations

Music, Movies, and Books

As I said before, I love listening to music, but I’m not a ‘fan’ of a single band or a particular artist. I enjoy different types and styles of music. I'm the kind of person who can listen to electronic dance music and then listen to bossa nova, jazz, rock or tango haha. I simply love listening to good music.
Speaking about movies, some of my favorites movies directors are Tarantino, Wes Anderson, Woody Allen or Pedro Almodovar, but I like movies in general, even the stupid ones that make me laugh.
I also enjoy watching TV Series on Netflix. I’m a Netflix fan!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Do I have to write it here and make it public? haha no no

What I Can Share with Hosts

My cooking skills. I'm not a Master Chef (not even close!) but I can cook a tasty meal. I can make an argentinian recipe or even mexican fajitas (I've learned how to make tasty fajitas when I lived in Mexico).

I can also share argentinian ‘mate’. 'El mate’ is a typical argentinian hot beverage, it's not a tea but it's a kind of an herb tea served with a metal straw from a kind of cup.
I always bring my "mate" kit with me when I'm traveling, so if you wanna try it I will love to share and drinking mate with you!
In fact, in Argentina the deep meaning of 'drinking mate' is about sharing and friendship, no matter if you are drinking with a buddy or a stranger
