ABOUT ME

After graduating from college and spending a year in Israel I decided to make aliyah so now I'm living in the north on a kibbutz-ulpan.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My sister and my father have hosted people in Willits, CA (my hometown). I've yet to host people, but I'm excited at the prospect of hosting and surfing.

I've couch surfed a bit in Israel, and overall had a good experience meeting new people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: (right now I'm reading "The Constant Gardener," but it's a slow read. My favorite books, poems, short stories and plays are probably, "1984," "Dubliners," ("The Dead"), "Never Let Me Go," "Things Fall Apart," "Animal Farm," "Song of Solomon," "A Clockwork Orange," "Mrs. Dalloway," "The Bell Jar," "Catcher in the Rye," "Measure for Measure," "Othello," "Waiting for Godot," "Hills like White Elephants," "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," "The Metamorphosis," "The Mists of Avalon," "Diary of Anne Frank," "Native Son," "Hatchet," "White Fang," "Brave New World," "La Bete Humaine." As for authors and poets and playwrites go: anything ever written by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. (God bless him), Hemingway, TS Eliot, Ezra Pound (even though he was an antisemite), Gertrude Stein, Langston Hughes, Joyce, Margret Atwood, Marion Zimmer Bradely, JK Rowling, Marriane Moore, Shakespeare, CS Lewis, Phillip Pullman, WB Yeats...I'd also like to include the Norton Anthology of Modern Poetry and the Norton Shakespeare for good measure.

As far as movies go, my taste isn't very refined: "Fight Club," "American History X," certain Neo-noir films, and even fewer film noir movies, "Mean Girls," "Pulp Fiction," "The Dark Knight," "The Matrix," "American Psycho," "American Beauty," "Silence of the Lambs," "The Last Unicorn," "The Lion King," "Drive Me Crazy," "The Devil Wears Prada," "The Secret of Roan Inish," "Spiderman," "Children of the Sun," "Children of God," "Children of Men," "Snatch," "Trainspotting," "Monty Python and the Holy Grail."

As far as music goes, it depends on the occasion, but here's an assortment of music I like in no specific order: all grunge (Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, STP, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Bush, Candlebox, Live, etc...), Tool, Local Natives, Pheonix, Young the Giant, Band of Horses, Apocalyptica, the XX, Foo Fighters, Franz Ferdinand, Metric, MGMT, Mumford and Sons, Muse, The Offspring, Pink Floyd, System, Temper Trap, Tenacious D, Delta Spirit, Everclear, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Damien Rice, Beck, Arcade Fire, Gipsy Kings, Radiohead, Santigold, Santana, Shiny Toy Guns, Macklemore, The Smiths, Two Door Cinema Club, U2, White Rabbits, Fiona Apple, Civil Twilight, Death Cab, The Decembrists, K'naan, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Buena Vista Social Club, The Cranberries, Ellie Goulding, Moby, Bare Naked Ladies, Spoon, Arctic Monkey, La Roux, Matchbox Twenty, Airborn Toxic Event, Anberlin, Beth Hart, Bjork, The Beatles, Foster the People, Plan B, Adele, Balkan Beat Box, Idan Raichel, Asaf Avidan, Etnix, Mashina, HaDag Nachash, Mercedes Band, AWOLNATION, the Black Keys, Blondie, Ofra Haza, Crystal Fighters, Cold War Kids, Pretty Lights, Bassnectar, Big Gigantic, Eviatar Banai, Japanese Popstars, Starfucker, Lana Del Ray, Lykki Li, Metropolitan, Nina Simone, NIN, Portishead, Royksopp, Adventureclub, Nero, Miike Snow, Passenger, the Lumineers, Imagine Dragons, Infected Mushroom, Grimes, The Fools of Prophesy, The Flaming Lips, Efrat Gush, Die Antwoord, David Gray, Crystal Castles, Una Ramos, Citizen Cope, Capital Cities, The Breeders, Bat For Lashes, Azaelia Banks, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Peaches, Cream, the Doors, Garbage, LCD Soundsystem, Lilofee, Muse, Oren Lavie, Passion Pit, Moby, The Young Professionals...etc etc...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My father forced me to walk up the snake trail (Masada) when I was seven years old. I've also scored a goal from the halfway line.
