About Me
Hi there, I'm Carmen! I am laid-back, outgoing, and I love getting to know new people all over the world. An avid traveler, I have enjoyed visiting, living, and working in several countries (most recently Costa Rica for the past two years). I work in wildlife conservation and am incredibly passionate about protecting the natural world. I am a vegan, but not the annoying or condescending type. ;) I am very flexible and accepting of others, no matter your background or lifestyle. I love adventuring in the outdoors, exploring new cities, cooking with friends, or just sitting in a local cafe, reading a book. I am often traveling with my partner, Ezra, who is very similar to me in personality and interests. We have been told that we're gracious and low-maintenance guests!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My favorite part about traveling is not just seeing a new place, but really connecting with the people and the culture there. I think Couchsurfing is a great way to connect and be part of a community of awesome people looking to help one another out. Everyone deserves the opportunity to travel, regardless of financial boundaries, and I'd love to help make that happen for others!

Music, Movies, and Books
I have very broad taste in music, movies, and books, so I'll list what I've been reading, watching, and listening to most recently:
Currently listening to: Vulfpeck, Leon Bridges, Amo Amo, Lizzo, Shakey Graves, FKJ... funk, folk, soul, pop, mainly music that makes you feel empowered or gives you the urge to dance.
Currently watching: Lots of documentaries
Currently reading: Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My job for the past two years was wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and reintroduction. I rescued countless monkeys, anteaters, armadillos, parrots, raptors, iguanas, opossums, etc., rehabilitated them, and then released them back into their natural habitats. My team also brought a species of parrot, the Scarlet Macaw, back from local extinction!
Teach, Learn, Share
As mentioned before, I am incredibly passionate about my career and love to talk about wildlife, conservation, environmental and social justice. I have lots of stories to share, and love hearing about other peoples' interests, passions, and adventures. I'd be happy to give you recommendations, show you around the area, and share a coffee or a meal! My home is a safe space to rest and relax.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good times, a friendly presence, a warm smile, and a conversation. I can help you practice English or Spanish, and I'd love to cook a meal for you or your family, walk your dog, or help out around the home if needed.
